Manicure scare

I was in Buenos Aires, Argentina and got a manicure at a salon that the concierge recommended called Roberto Giordano. Supposedly a nice place. The lady was cutting my cuticles and cut the skin on my pinky finger under my cuticle by accident. I did not see her sterilize anything and am petrified cause I do not know the health standards in Buenos Aires. She claimed it was sterilized. If it was not could I have caught HIV from the cuticle cutter if it was used on someone with it earlier that day? Additionally, the lady right before me was about 65 and there was about a 10-20 minute period between our manicures. I am so nervous and want to know if I should get tested for HIV?

Hello,
Thank you fro your post.
Certainly not.  There was no risk of HIV to you and for this reason, you do not need to get tested.  It is almost impossible to transmit HIV that way, even in the unlikley event that the cutter had not been steralised and that the lady before you were to be HIV positive.  HIV becomes unstable within seconds of being outside of the body and dies after a few minutes anyway.  No need to worry, no need to get tested.
Best wishes,
Dr José

Dr. José,
Thank you for your quick response. I feel relieved to know that it is in no way possible to get HIV by getting a manicure.
