Please help

Dear doctor

In your earlier post, you mentioned that I won't need to worry about HIV. Today is day 43 and I now have a slightly inflamed throat and swollen lumpy nodes in the neck.  I also think I have been having night sweats off and on. Probably 3 to 4 nights.  Are these possibly symptoms of HIV infection?  Please advice as I'm very afraid right now. Thanks.  Plus I have lost some weight i.e. Probably about 3 kgs in the last 41 days.  I forgot to mention that I had dry mouth last week and had an ulcer on my tongue. My diarrhea started again yesterday.  Btw, i forgot to mention that im a diabetic.  Would that make a difference?  Sorry would appreciate it if you could reply to me as im really worried rite now.  Thanks.

My previous post is attached below:

Hi Doctors

I had unprotected oral sex with a sex worker 2 weeks ago in Bangkok.  During the oral sex, the sex worker accidentally cut my penis and it was bleeding.  We only realised it after i came in her mouth.  2 days after i started coughing and today i had some diarrhea.  Im really worried.  What are the chances of me contracting HIV virus on the assumption that the sex worker is HIV positive which she claims she isnt?  Im very concerned and need your consultation urgently.

Tks

Hello,
I still do not beleive that these symptoms have anything to do with HIV as the risk for you was so low, if not zero.  Those symptoms could be sympotms of many other conditions, much more common than HIV, and they might be even related to your diabetes.  Being diabetic would not change the risk of HIV infection.  If your symptoms persist, I would recommend that you go and consult your doctor about it.  You could always have a HIV test, for your peace of mind.  I am sure that it will be negative.
Best wishes,
Dr José
