Hello,
Thank you very much for your post.
Firstly I would like to say that none of your sexual encounters would have involved any real risk of HIV infection for you. The penetration was protected and you only received oral sex, which does not involve a HIV risk. Therefore I would very much doubt that you have been infected. I believe that your symptoms are unrelated and as non-specific symptoms, they could be symptoms of hundreds of other conditions, much more common that HIV. Also Pentasa can cause some of these. If they persist, my advice to you is to see your doctor and discuss them. The WBC drop would have nothing to do with HIV at these stages. I think it is more likely to be related to the ulcerative colitis and the medication you are on, if anything. As far as I know Pentasa does not have an effect on HIV antibody production. Therefore your negative antibody test is conclusive for your first encounter and highly reassuring for your second.
Best wishes,
Dr José
Good day Dr., disregarding my previous question, the one and only worry that is haunting me is the following: During my first exposure on October 11, I had a French Kiss with CSW in FKK Germany and she was the one who approached me. We kiss for around 45 secs or so and before that by 1 hour I brushed my teeth. After we kissed, she told me not to worry cos she always cleans her mouth. Dr, my worry is still on because I experience the major symptoms after the first exposure: Nov. 17th Hi fever and cold sore, Nov. 27 chest congestion and coughing and forgot to mention before that I had 2 days with almost lost voice (part of sore throat) and then the skin disorders by December 15th and the other symptoms that I described before. Dr, I am panicking if Pentasa could have delayed my 84th antibody test ... please forgive my doubt since you mentioned in your answer 'as far as I know..' made me worry and surf the web but to no avail. Q. Would there still be a possibility of HIV from this episode which made me worry most more than unprotected BJs and protected vaginal intercourses. Thank you Dr and sorry for that (last question I swear).
Hi again Dr, one last thing. A few days back another rash occurred on my back around 7 pimples round and red (.5 to 1cm) tender and not itchy unless I touch tem. One time/day diarrhea is still on. Yesterday I developed one small but itchy cold sore on my left groin (today it is not itchy), red irritation around 1cm diam below the eye and 2 small pimples with red skin above the ear and had a 30-45 min fever around 37.5. Today I'm so frail. Q: is the cold sore x 1on groin a matter of HIV concern? Will go to the Dr on Monday (Currently national vacation in town). Thank u and sorry for the level of anxiety since I'm married and hv a child.
Nicely said, Dr. Jose.
I hope you do not mind that I posted in Ronin547's thread. Ronin and I are actually friends from this Forum. You have replied to my thread before, in this forum too.
For Ronin and myself, without a doubt you are one great doctor that we admire very much.
We value your medical advices as well as personal advices.
God bless you, Dr. Jose.
Sometimes we have to go through situations like this in order to appreciate what is really important in life and not to take things for granted.
All the best,
Dr José
Dear Dr. Jose,
Due to the feeling of guilt, I surfed the web over the last 2 months with extreme anxiety probing into the world of HIV. Your answer brought me back to logic for the first time and I checked the symptoms of Pentasa and Ulcerative Colitis and as you said most of the symptoms are related to them.
I would like to forward my warmest appreciation for your input and to be honest, the last two months made me suffer but helped me appreciate how much I love my family, life, and God hence no more sexual sins would be committed in this life.
God bless you Doctor and regards to Dr. Cumming as well.
