Unprotected Sex HIV Risk Worried!

Hello,
I posted to the STD forums several weeks ago and received a reassuring response from Dr. HH but I wanted to ask a follow up question here. 10 weeks ago I had unprotected sex with a woman of unknown status, although she claimed to be disease free-she was married, early 40s and with 2 kids if that helps.  At 3 weeks post exposure, I tested negative for Gonorrhea, Chlymidia, Syphills, Herpes and HIV.  I haven't had any symptoms (knock on wood) except for 2-3 red spots on my stomach.  They are not really raised spots, just kind of there (I am hairy generally on my stomach).  They have been there for several weeks, and to be honest may have always been there and I'm just noticing them?  A couple questions:

1)  Is this a typical spot for HIV rash to appear?
2)  I have read that 6 week, 12 week, 6 months, etc are all good times for HIV testing - what is the accuracy of a 3 week blood test like the one I had?

I know I have a 1/1000 chance of getting it if she had it, obviously a zero percent chance if she doesn't...but I'm still worried.  Like I said, other than these stomach pimples, I haven't experienced any symptoms (I do sweat there a lot during exercise, too).

Thanks!

Hello

You asked:-

1)  Is this a typical spot for HIV rash to appear?

NO - HIV rashes are generally maculopapular and spread over the entire abdomen/chest/back with some spread onto the limbs - your description is not concerning.

2)  I have read that 6 week, 12 week, 6 months, etc are all good times for HIV testing - what is the accuracy of a 3 week blood test like the one I had?

You don't specify which test you had. If you had an RNA PCR HIV test at any time after about 7 days post exposure then that will give you greater than 99.9% accuracy. If you had an HIV DUO test = a combined p24/HIV 1 and 2 antibody test at any time after 28 days then that will give you a greater than 99.89% accuracy. If you had a "plain" HIV 1 and 2 antibody test at any time after 6 weeks then that will give you greater than 99% accuracy.

Best wishes, Sean

I should also add that she was on her period at the time, not sure if that increases the risk?

Hello
Lets say, you had a risk because of unprotected sex and the risk is a bit higher if she had her period.
1) Your symptomes are not typical for HIV
2) The Doc`s in this Forum are saying, that a Duo Test at 28 Days is 99,89% conclusive, your Test was a bit to early. A Test at 8 Weeks is 99.99% and a Test at 3 Month is conclusive.
3) Your risk is low but still it was a risk. Go and get tested again at 3 Month but i believe you are fine!

Thanks.  A bit more info for the Doctors and others - I gave into my anxiety and had a repeat blood test done today at 10 weeks, 2 days.  If this one comes back negative should I consider it definitive?  I believe my partner to have been low risk - claimed to be disease free and only with one partner her whole life, but I don't know what to believe and am anxious as you can tell.  Thanks!

Finally, I've read that folliculitis can becomeore prominent if u have HIV.  The doctor who gave me my blood test today confirmed the spots on my belly looks like folliculitis.  How likely is it to have no other symptoms but have folliculitis and be HIV+?

Hi - I just had a HIV antibody blood test and it came back negative at 10 weeks and 2 days.  With 99% accuracy and no symptoms, safe to assume this is a conclusive result?
