Unprotected anal sex

Hello. I did unprotected anal sex (i was receiving) with another male. he later told me he is hiv+. Few days later I have been getting mild fever, night sweats, diarrhea. He told me he was hiv+ after i got the symptoms so they started before i know. Later i also start get joint/muscle pain, headaches, hands and legs numb. I did duo test at 4 weeks: negative. but i still had the symptoms. i tested duo at 5 weeks and also negative. i still have the symptoms: mild fever, night sweats, headaches, joint/muscle pain etc.
a) are my symptoms typical of ars? seroconversion?
b) are my tests results conclusive? do i need further testing?
c) can other stds give these symptoms?
d) i have the symptoms for 6 weeks now. could this mean it is taking me longer to produce anti-bodies?
e) do symptoms mean anti-body production?
f) if symptoms were due to hiv would testing during symptoms show that?
g) what is your final advice please? could i have hiv?

Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum.  I will answer each of your questions here below:

a) are my symptoms typical of ars? seroconversion?
THEY COULD CERTAINLY BE SYMPTOMS OF HIV SEROCONVERSION.  HOWEVER THE TIMING DOES NOT CORRELATE AS THEY WOULD NOT PERSIST FOR SUCH A LONG TIME.  ARS SYMPTOMS DO NOT USUALLY LAST LONGER THAN A COUPLE OF WEEKS

b) are my tests results conclusive? do i need further testing?
I WOULD CONSIDER THEM CONCLUSIVE AS YOU HAD TWO HIV DUO TESTS AFTER 4 WEEKS

c) can other stds give these symptoms?
YOUR SYMPTOMS ARE NON-SPECIFIC AND COULD CONSISTENT WITH ANY INFECTION.  YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET TESTED FOR ALL OTHER STDs, INCLUDING SYPHILIS, HEPATITIS B, HEPATITIS C, ANAL CHLAMYDIA AND GONORRHOEA

d) i have the symptoms for 6 weeks now. could this mean it is taking me longer to produce anti-bodies?
NO, NOT AT ALL

e) do symptoms mean anti-body production?
YES, THAT'S RIGHT

f) if symptoms were due to hiv would testing during symptoms show that?
EXACTLY.  BY DEFINITION, IF THE SYMPTOMS WERE RELATED TO SERO-CONVERSION, YOUR TESTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN POSITIVE

g) what is your final advice please? could i have hiv? .
I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE HIV.  HOWEVER MY ADVICE TO YOU IS TO GET TESTED FOR THE INFECTIONS MENTIONED ABOVE.  IT WOULD ALSO BE USEFUL TO HAVE A FULL BLOOD TEST IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN YOUR SYMPTOMS.
AND IN FUTURE, PLEASE ALWAYS USE CONDOMS WHEN HAVING PENETRATIVE SEX.
Best wishes,
Dr José
