have I been exposed

hey doc a couple of days ago I had sex with a african american female sex worker in washington, dc. I used protection but at the base of my penis there was about a inch of skin exposed and I did see vag fluid. I read somewhere that hiv can be contracted through a small cut or open wound. I checked myself after and there didn't appear to be a cut or open wound, but this was just with the naked eye, and the condom did not break. Was I at risk?

Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our HIV forum.
To respond to your question in a single word: no.  You did not put yourself at risk of HIV at all whatosever; a condom was used and this remain intact and in place. Even if the lady in question was positive, and that is a lot of assuming. HIV does not infect through intact skin; you would have had to have an open bleeding wound, which is not the case.
No need to worry, no need to be tested.
Kind regards,
Dr José
