unprotected rimming, the risks

Four weeks ago I had an oral-anal (rimming) encounter with a female (unknown status). My tongue was in her anal area for a minute or so. She then went down on me with condom on and penetration was also with condom. Three weeks after that encounter I came down with a small, mild rash of shingles, no blisters to speak of. The rash is going away now after 1 week, and I have had no other symptoms of any kind. I read that shingles may be an indicator of early HiV and then I read it may not be, so I am somewhat confused. I did have unprotected oral-anal with this female for a very short duration as I mention above, so the question is, what is the likelihood of getting HiV from an encounter such as this considering I did get a small burst of a shingle's rash, again no other symptoms. I have been under a great strain of late in other things I have been doing. Should I be worried. I am a white male, 56. Thank-you

Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum.
Firstly I would like to reassure you.  Your sexual encounter did not involve any risk of HIV infection; receiving oral sex and anal rimming do not pose a HIV risk.
Secondly, I would like to know if you are completely sure that what you had was shingles.  Was this diagnosed by a doctor?  If it was shingles indeed, you would not get it 3 weeks after having been infected with HIV.  It is something that usually occurs after some time from the initial infection, when the immune system is starting to be affected by the virus.  Perhpas it is due to the fact that you have been very stressed about this.  Stress can trigger outbreaks of shingles.
In summary, I do not believe that you need to worry about HIV.  However you need to make sure that you get tested for other STDs.

Hi there,I'm not a Dr,but I have learned about HIV transmission as of late,I was involved in a high risk exposure,I mean a very high risk exposure,and the incident you describe,is no risk of HIV,you had protected sex,so what you are concerned about is sticking your tongue in her ***,I'm very confident that the Dr will inform you that HIV is not a concern here,I do understand the anxiety after incidents I went through 6 weeks of hell,and discovered at the end that I am HIV negative.try to stay away from Dr google,as there is alot of unfiltered information there,while waiting for the dr to respond I would advise you to read previous forums similar to yours,and you will realize HIV is not transmitted from licking someone's ***,I hope you fell better soon

Thank-you Dr. for your post and for your reassurance. You asked how I knew what I have is shingles. I went to doctor 3 days ago and he confirmed that the small blistery rash I had on my right back side, just at, or above the belt line was shingles. I was confused and puzzled about getting shingles 3 weeks after the anal rimming encounter I mentioned above, but you have answered that for me here. This was the only casual encounter I have had with this female or anyone else for that matter. Thank-you for that piece of mind. I will follow through on your other recommendations.
