worried beyond belief

Hello. I am a 23 year old female from the United States. I have had a couple urinary tract infections and have been placed on short term antibiotic treatment a few times this year. I had unprotected sex with two guys from early to mid-August (mid-August was the last time) and have two HIV 1 and 2 AB, EIA tests. One on September 6th and another on December 19th. Both came out negative. I have called a few numbers and they say that for the test to be fully conclusive, I must retest at 6 months...and that the test I took in December should just be disregarded almost. I spoke with my doctor and he says that approximately 97 percent will test positive if they are within a 3 month window period. Who falls within the 3 percent? Will my negative turn to positive if I haven't had sex since August? Am I in the clear at all? Have you personally seen anyone who has turned positive after the three month mark without additional exposure?I have been worried sick for the past few weeks and have become severly depressed with thoughts of suicide.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum.
You had a negative HIV antibody test at 17 weeks following an episode of unprotected intercourse.  I can assure you that this test is final and fully conclusive, and that you DO NOT have HIV.  There is no need for you to have any further tests.  Also having recurrent urine infection and being vegetarian would not have any impact in the reliability of this test.
Best wishes,
Dr José

Me too. I have not been myself at all and have barely been eating because of the stress.
