I will have my HIV test tomorrow

Dear Doctors

I do appreciate your work and the wondefull site and how you are trying to help the people from every  part in this world,
In brief I will have my HIV test tomorrow  and I need your clarifications as I was trying to search on the net before 2moro but I got confused to find the answers because searching the net  about HIV might be misleading  So I need your guidelines.
1-I'm afraid of the false result which I was reading on your site for example if + person when his body starts the produce the antibodies during the window period let us say 2 weeks after the infection and he tested positive using antibody test then logically all the follow antibody tests should be positives as the antibodies will exist in his blood and won't disappeared and he won't tested  negative  again is this correct
2-I was reading from other posts people were testing  + and then - so is their bodies are acting in very strange way by fighting the antibodies and make the antibodies despaired or is this because they is still in the  window period?
3-I have noticed you recommending the window period should be 8 weeks and this because of the new tests so this has been used world wild instead of telling people to get tested 6 months and not even 3 months so can the people start to relay on 8 weeks test and forget about 3month -6months test
4-What is ideal time to repeat the test after the testing + and what is the ideal periods should be used to relay on the final result and what test method should be used?
5-If the early  symptoms  HIV been delayed more than 4 weeks,  what is latest time the symptoms will appear after the infection?  as I saw some posts people are suffering from HIV early symptom like Large lymph glands in neck, armpits and groins after  the window period which you advise which is 3 months.

Zdrasvuitye y dobri denh (or however you spell it without the cyrilic alphabet).  Ya uchilsya po-russki dva goda -- but that was 40 years ago and I have forgotten most of what I learned.  Apologies if I seemed critical; we usually try to be sensitive to possible language barriers.

Your negative test result at 9 weeks probably is 100% reliable.  However, if you have a strong reason to believe your partner had HIV ---  if he told you he is infected, or if he is an injection drug users (which explains most HIV infections in Russia) or gay/bisexual --- then you might have a final test at 3 months.  If so, you can expect it to remain negative.

Sir, I just collected the result of my HIV rapid test and it is negative so do you think it false or true negative and this is the end of my story or  I should retest again using another test type because of the high risk unprotected sex I had 9 weeks ago?

Thanks for you swift answers and Sorry as I'm from Russia and English is not my 1st language,

I had unprotected sex with a high risk hiv person 2 month ago without wearing condom and last 2 days  I experienced painful lymph glands in neck, armpits and groinslet so I need your help with question 1,4 and 5 so let me clarify the questions in brief .
1-I will do HIV rapid test 2moro  and  I'm afraid of the false result ( positive or negative ) as I red that from other posts people are getting false result more often recently so if I’m positive and my body started to produce the antibodies and I tested positive using antibody test 2moro then logically all the follow up antibody tests should be positives as the antibodies will exist in my blood and won't disappeared and I will never tested negative again is this correct
4- if my result  will become positive tomorrow when I should come back to confirm I'm positive or I'm negative and which test or tests and what is time frame my doctor should use to confirm the result

5-I didn't have any symptoms for the first 4 weeks but you mentioned that They might be noticed later than that what do mean the HIV early symptoms might appear after the 4 weeks if yes how late?

Thanks for your clarifications in advance

Welcome to the forum.  I could have more effectively assessed the chance you have HIV if you had said something about the nature of the exposure you are concerned about.  Also, I have to say it seems a waste of energy and time -- both yours and mine -- to worry about the "what ifs", i.e. to speculate on the chance of a positive test result, when you're going to know within a few days -- maybe tomorrow, if you have a rapid test.

1) I'm not sure I understand.  I think you are asking about the possibility that a sex partner has HIV with a negative test result, if he became infected very recently before the test was done.  That's always possible, but it is very rare -- and if your partner isn't a gay man or active needle-sharing drug user, it is almost impossible.

2) I also don't undertand this. Once someone tests positive, all future tests always are positive.

3) The window period is not an absolute figure.  In newly infected people, the standard antibody tests are positive in around 50% of people at 2-3 weeks, 85-90% by 4 weeks, at least 95% (maybe 99%) at 6-8 weeks, and 100% by 3 months.

4) The timing of tests depends in part on the level of risk.  Most of the time 6-8 weeks is plenty.

5) Symptoms of acute HIV infection are never delayed beyond 4 weeks.  They might be noticed later than that, but the first symptoms generally appear after 10-20 days.

Feel free to report back with your test result, at which time you can also add some information about the nature of the exposure that concerns you.  But I won't have anything more to say until the result is available.  In the meantime, you can read other threads, either at random or by using the search link, with terms like "seroconversion" and "window period".
