Anxious/nervous

Dear Dr's,
Hello before I begin I just wanted to say that I really appreciate all you do in terms of HIV prevention information and reassurance. About 6 months ago I was diagnosed with HSV2 since then I have and continue to be in a monogomus relationship,at that time I was tested for all other STD's including HIV and was negative. For peace of mind I was then tested again 3 months after that and was again negative. Now for my situation about a week ago I connected with an African American CSW that I met through a phone chatline, before we engaged in protected oral sex I asked her if she was tested and she said she was clean and that I was fine. Before she proceeded to give me oral with a condom we engaged in mutual masturbation, kissing and I sucked on her breasts. I informed her about my HSV2 and that I was on suppressive therapy and was not having an outbreak, she said as long as the condom was on it was ok, after she finished I checked the condom for breaks and did not see any. My question is do I need to be tested again and is it ok to continue having unprotected sex with my long term gf soon to be fiancé?  I also wanted continued to ask her after the fact if she was tested and she said "she gets tested regularly" but somehow I'm still a bit anxious.

Thank you Dr.!

I suspect that what you were told was an answer provided according to protocol.  I see no need for futher testing related to the exposures you have described.  EWH

I have one last question. I received my negative blood test results today from the health department and the woman who gave me my results said I needed to come back in three months for another test. Is this necessary or are they saying this because of protocol? Please note that they didn't even ask me about my scenario or if I had been tested in the past? Thank you! This will end the thread.

Correct and yes, your results should be believed.  EWH

So I can expect another negative result correct? Also will it be conclusive?

You have no reason to worry, it is typical for tests to take a week to become available.  EWH

Hello Dr.Hook,

I know you said this was a no risk exposure but I had a 29 day rapid oraquick test at planned parenthood anyway it was negative, but I also did a blood test at my local health department and they say it will take a week for the results and now I'm worried waiting for the results should I be worried or are my fears unfounded?

Welcome back to the Forum. The sorts of activities you describe, receipt of protected oral sex, rubbing, kissing and kissing your partner’s breast do not put you at ANY risk for any STI, including HIV.  there is no need for testing and no need to worry or abstain from unprotected sex with your regular partner.  My guess is that your anxiety is more a reflection of guilt related to cheating on your partner than anything else.

I hope this reassurance is helpful.  EWH
