Can you get infected from Oraquick..

Hi, ive testet multiple time because im a paranoid person.. I had a 2-3 week and a7 week lab tube of blood test come back negative.. since then ive taken around 6-8 oraquicks cause im paranoid.. my last one was at 15 weeks, it came back negative.. but im so paranoid that the T line keeps being so faint that it cant be seen by the naked eye that on multple ocassions ive broken the test stick to pull out the test strip and examine under various lighting.. I guess my question is whether oraqucik contains active hiv that can effect me? I dont believe i actually touched the part of the strip that shows on the test window where the actual antigens and stuff are but i believe i touched the part where the oral fluid goes up the test stick before it comes in contact with the antigens...

I called oraquick and they said that there is no active hiv in the test but idk.. I dont think the fda would approve a otc test that contains active hiv.. also at 15 weeks would a oraquick have a positive result with the T line being to faint to see unless extreme close observation, and was a 7-8 week lab blood test a good indicator. My last sex im worries about I wore a condom fully intact and only had penetrative sex for about 40 seconds....

sorry im extremely i always told my mother that she is a hypercondriac I guess i might be as well.

the issue of "faint" test results is irrelavant.  When the tests are positive, it is clear.  You really need to put this behing you.  EWH

ok thankyou, one last thing would a result at 15 weeks be too faint to see unless close examination?

Yes I agree that im overly obsessive, but actually getting my questions answered from a doctor is definitely putting my mind to rest..

thankyou very much btw

Welcome to the Forum.  I'm pleased to tell you that all of your tests- HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis have now provided you with conclusive evidence that you were not infected at the time of your sexual encounter over eight weeks ago.

As for your question about the presence of HIV in OraQuick, the answer is that none of the tests used for detection of HIV contained HIV virus.  There is no risk to you of infection from handling the test or it's components.

Finally, I need to also suggest that you are being overly fearful about HIV and perhaps STIs.  Please remember most people do not have STIs, even when they do, most exposures to infected partners do not lead to infection, and safe sexual practices (I.e. Correct and consistent condom use) will keep you sexually healthy.

I hope thiese comments are helpful.  It is time for you to move forward without concern.  EWH
