Confused with results, on going symptoms.

Dear Doctors

I am hoping that you can help me come to a conclusion, on what i need to do from here, i will do my best to explain what has happened to my since the exposure.
I was travelling in Paraguay when I was met a girl while intoxicated I made a bad decision to sleep with her we had twice unprotected vagainal sex, i noticed when we finished that she had been mensturating. I was not in a place where I could get to a doctor until ten days later, he sent me to the hospital where they gave me tablets to take (pep) i now beileve. I started the pep ten days after the exposure, I came up with a red itchy rash on the inside of my legs which i was later told was a yeast infections it went into the head of my penis too.
About 15 days after while still on pep i woke up with head ache, vomiting and sore muscles, i felt tired too, that night when i was in a resturant i felt like i was having hot flushes. I never took my temp and but i dont remember feeling hot in the days after that however the the air temp was like 40c there.
A few days after that i came up with another rash sort of purple on my hands and feet and, arms, and i think a little on my stomach when I went back to the hospital, they told me to stop taking the pep and I did after being on it for thirteen days, my muscles where also twitching and they still are now some 8 months later. Over the last 8 months I have had a few colds and some inflamed hairs on my inner thighs and chest.
When these symptoms first appeared i didnt know what they where but now it seems very apparent that it could be HIV. I am confused however because  of my negative test results i tested negative at 40 days post exposure, but now i realise it was only 13 days post pep ( i have read this can effect the tests) also neg at 14 weeks post exposure and around 75 days post pep was neg antibody and neg for a viral test sorry don't know which one. I also tested at one week under six months since the pep antibody neg.
What isyourassesment?

My goodness, if I read your post correctly you have had a negative HIV test almost 6 months after completion of PEP that you should have never received.  If this is the case, you can be sure that you did not get HIV.

Your risk for HIV was low to begin with since most women in Paraguay do not have HIV and, even if she had HIV, the risk of getting HIV from this exposure is less than 1 in 1000 per episode of intercourse (1 in 500 overall), even if she was menstruating.  You do not have HIV, be confident of this.

As for what you may be suffering from, that is more difficult to say.  If you are still having symptoms that worry you, you should work with a doctor (and not go from doctor to doctor) to sort this out.

You do not have HIV. You do not need further testing.  I hope this comment will be helpful to you and allow you to move on from your concern about HIV. EWH
