Dear doctors please your final comment
Hello dear doctors. Please excuse my weak english. I have enormous fear of HIV infection and I trully want to move on with my life. 75 days ago I had protected vaginal intercourse with CSW, I am man. Woman was white origin, non drug user. Intercourse was brief, 5 minutes duration, condom stay on his place. There was also unprotected oral bothways. Fellatio to completion and I perform very brief cunnilingus on her. There was no blood and I don ´t feel her faginal fluids in my mouth. I just lick hre clitoris with a top of my tongue.
I took 4 tests, each was CMIA 4 gen assay from Abbott, detecting an antibodies and also an antigen p24 at:
4 weeks,6 weeks,8 weeks and exactly 10 weeks post exposure. All results were negative. Also the CSW took the same test ( I paid) exactly at 6 weeks after our sex-her result was negative. I had ni symptoms during first 10 weeks but at day 72 i started to feel cold symptoms like sneezing or runny nose.
I have also a girlfriend and I would like to resume our intimate relationship.
1. Are my test results final and reliable in your opinion?
2. Is the fact that CSW had negative COMBO at 6 weeks post sex with me really a strong evidence that I have been not exposed to HIV at all?
3. What about cold symptoms at 10 weeks? Are those related to HIV?
4. I am in the clear in your opinion or do you recommend another test at 12-13 weeks?

Welcome to the Forum. The exposures you describe, a s you have already heard are virtually no risk for HIV an your tests have proven this without a doubt. As you know from some of your other posts, the HIV DUO (HIV antibody and HIV p24 antigen) tests provide completely reliable results at 4 weeks. Thus, your repeat tests at 6, 8 and 10 weeks only proved what you should have already known- you id not get HIV from the exposure you described.
In answer to your specific questions:
1. Yes, they should be believed. You did not get HIV.
2. Correct again. If your partner had HIV, an even if she was in the "window period" when you had sex with her, if she had HIV her test 6 weeks later would have been positive. She did not have HIV at the time you had sex with her.
3. No, you had a cold. the symptoms of the so-called ARS are totally non-specific and are much, much more likely to be due to a cold or flu than HIV.
4. You are clear. Further testing related to this exposure would be a total waste of time and money. Believe your test results. EWH

Dear doctor Hook. I know you warned me that my further comments will be deleted without answer but PLEASE let me put one more question. I was tested just for a peace of mind at 91 days (13 weeks ) ( U.S window period ). My HIV 4th generation tests result was negative. I was so relieved, feeling really good after those horrible 3 months. Director of labs where I was tested told me that I am 100 % ok. But my doctor told me that it would be good idea to take another test at six months. Now I don ´t know. Should I go and celebrate or should I wait another 3 months for test? I also went to psychologist and psychiatrist. They say that I got OCD and I take some pills now. What is your opinion doctor? Is delayed seroconversion (beyond 3 months) real stuff or it is only a fiction?

Hello Doctor Hook. Just want to say THANK YOU for all of your patience and knowledge. I got my test results ( COMBO Ab/Ag) . 11 weeks and 4 days (just 3 days shy of 12 weeks) post exposure they are negative. Now I trully believe that I am fine. God bless you doc.

My 11 weeks DUO test came out negative but still I have this cold symptoms and I am starting get nervous about it. It is possible that I am seroconverting now at 11,5 weeks? It is possible for a person to start seroconvert 70 and have negative DUO one week later? What about antigen part of DUO? If person is seroconverting will there be at least a positive result from antigen test.
I will have no further questions driven by my fears and anxiety. I will seek also for a mental help. Thank you doctor

Just want to share my news doctor Hook. I took another DUO screening test today (11 weeks post exp.). I have booked this test about a week ago. Result was negative, I think this is no surprise for you. Thank you doctor.
Yes, you gave me an excellent arguments :-) And I can move on, finally. It was just my theoretical question because I see many members of this forum ( including me ) asking you question about virtually no risk situation. In my opinion, and maybe I am wrong, but I think that ~95% of persons who aquired this virus sexually are persons who repeatedly put themselves in a high risk situations-unprotected sex with multiple partners with unknown status or having sex with someone who is Hiv positive+ protection failure. This is my understanding of real risks. Maybe this HIV issue is not that complicated. When you ask your partner about his/her status and you use protection you can expect the negative result of your test anytime you test.
