HIV RISK - WORRIED

Hi Doc,

I am a male and 30 days ago, i had a protected exposure with a girl i met in a pub. No idea on her hiv status.

Well the story is as follows:

During the sexual encounter oral without condom and Protected vaginal, when In the middle of the encounter i realised the condom got loose. It didnt break nor did my tip of the penis was exposed. What i did then (in stupidity), i pulled out my penis (which was covered) and took out the condom and rewore the same condom i was using for sex.

But the PROBLEM is that i think i might have put the same condom inside way out when wearing it again....meaning when i took out the condom and re wore it, it might have been the other way around now.

IS There HIV risk in this????Vaginal fluids might have been on the condom and when i wore it again my penis would have been exposed to it.

4 weeks on and my sympotms were as follows:

1. pain at the back of the neck. nothing swollen, but neck is a bit stiff. it started 2 days ago and as i write if still aches and burns.
2. i am having small red dots popping up in my body. last week there were 4 or 5 in my stomach area...these were scattered around and not in one spot or in a ring. Currently one is on my right hand near my arm.one on my neck and two on my chest.some itchy while some not.

Pls advise doctor and let me know if test is needed. Thanks

I am worried till hell and dont know what will hapeen if i test postive.

I provided the best answer I could. You do not know if the condom was on properly on not.  There is also much that you do not know about your parter.  There is never NO risk- in science we know to never say never.  The proper question is, is your risk high. the answer is, no.  I told you this before and will not repeat it.

As for your "red dots", I cannot examine you to comment however there is no data to suggest that this is an STD or HIV or is related to the exposure you describe.  My suggestion to you is, if you are concerned, have doctor take a look at it.  I would urge you not to worry about it however.  EWG

Hi Doc,

today is the 40th day after my exposure (abt to get 6 weeks).
Doc the neck that i mentioned earlier which was very stiff, is still stiff and aching as at today. it is slightly swolen today as well.the point where it aches is at the back of the neck underneath my left ear. can it be a lymph node?

another development in me is the rash. the new pop ups are aminly around my ches and stomach area and is small and blakish. doesnt itch at all.

i tested negative at 4 weeks but that was to early.
iam really having a nervous breakdown.....i don know what wil happen to me

This will be the last answer.  If your symptoms were due to ARS, your test would be positive.  EWH

Hi Doc,
Many thanks for the reply.Iam sorry for being a nerd, but i know i might have overreacted.

Anyways doc, for the peace of mind, i got tested and results came out negative for both HIV and also STD's.

Doc, if the sympotms were due to ARS, i would have already tested postive,no? As i read from your post you mentioned that.

Thanks Doc.

Though i have very low risk,,,,,i would also get tested in 3 motnhs time to have a conclusive report and put this behind me.

p.n....after the test today i called my mum (she was very supportive - thnaks mum for understanding) and told her the whole story from a-z...i had to share this with someone as i could not hold it in me any longer. Iam 24 and am planiing to get married soon, and GOD PROMISE.....nothing of this sort will happen again.

Doc thanks for the reply.

However i could not get a clear response from you.Though you are saying that hiv risk is low, BUT  still there is risk??
I got tested and they said to come tomorrow for the results. HOPE AND PRAY TO GOD IT IS NEGATIVE>......though i know that 3 months is the conclusive test.

The symptoms esp the red dots started on the third week, as i menitoned. is it too late or still around.

lastly could you pls tell me if i wore the condom the other way,,,would the fluids that were on the other side of the condom, be a risk for HIV....

thnaks DOC

While not knowing whether you put a used condom on inside out or not is a silly thing to do, you have very little to worry about.  Here are the reasons:

1.  You do not know that your partner had HIV. chances are that she did not.
2.  Even if she did, there is at least a 50/50 chance you put the condom on properly.
3.  Even if you put it on inside out, your risk for HIV is very low.

Putting all of this together, you have little to worry about.  If you are nervous, please get an HIV test but, if you choose to do this, please promise yourself you will believe the result that you get.

Your symptoms are not suggestive of HIV and are too late following your exposure to be the ARS.

In the future, please use condoms only a single time.  EWH
