Need advice of doctor on risk

Hello Doctor.

I would like to get your opinion on the following:

I masturbated a guy and his semen spilled onto my hands near the base of my right thumb. There was quite of lot of his semen. The skin was intact. Some people have told me it is zero risk. Is it really zero risk? I would prefer to get a medical opinion from a doctor to feel more reassured.

If there is no risk for HIV transmission in this case, could you please elaborate on why there is no risk?

Thank you
Timothy

You have repeated the substance of my answer correctly. Zero risk.

For an exposure of the sort you describe to lead toPEP is silly. the risk of PEP side effects is considerable.  On the other hand, there is, again, NO RISK, of HIV form the exposure you describe. EWH

So to summarize:

The activity as described above (fresh semen on hands with unbroken skin) is zero risk for HIV. Am I correct?

Do I need PEP?

Please kindly confirm.

Thanks.
Timothy

Welcome to the Forum.  HIV is transmitted through penetrative genital or anal sex and injection of infected materials deep into tissue.  HIV is not transmitted though masturbation, even when partners get each other's genital secretions on one another.  The amount of genital secretion makes no difference.

There are no recorded cases of HIV transmission through masturbation.  You do not need testing and you do not need to worry.

I hope my comments are reassuring.  EWH
