Oral Sex Risk

I recently, after a drunken night, ended up receiving oral sex from an African sex worker (she was from Zambia, the incident happened in Europe). I am now worried about my risk of exposure to HIV and other STD's. I wore a condom during the incident. In fact I was so drunk I lost my erection and didn't end up coming....

My specific questions are:

1) What is the risk of HIV from this incident?
2) What is the risk of other STD's?
3) I was tested for Chlamydia, Ghonnerhea, NSU, Syphallus and HIV 3 days after contact. This is obviously too early for HIV, but would the others have shown up at this stage?
4) What is the risk of Herpes 1,2 from this incident?

I plan a 28 day Duo test for HIV(and p24 antigen), if this comes back negative, am I in the clear or do I need a repeat at 12 weeks? Does this test for HIV 1 and 2 (2 being important due to her nationality).

Am I worrying over nothing considering I was recieving protected oral? When can I be safe to have unprotected sex again with my long-term partner...?

Thanks for your advice... what a bl**dy c*ck-up (no pun intended)!

See my original reply.  Zero risk for all since a condom was used, and very low risk for all even without a condom.  For more detail, you can search the threads on this and the STD forum for other discussions.

Thanks for your response Doc, you seem to offer a very realistic and practical view of the world - something which is often difficult when wracked with guilt and the thought of putting a loved one at risk...

One final question...

It seems that there is so much conflicting info on the net regarding what can and can't be transferred via recieving oral. In order to clarify things, what would you estimate the risks to be for transmission of:

Clymidia
Gonnorhea
Syphallus
NSU
HIV
Herpes (1,2)

through protected and un-protected oral sex? (ie. the chance of getting it from recieving a blow-job from someone who was infected). Thanks

Thanks to l.i.b. for trying to help, with a response to the person who posted a new question as a "comment".  It was well meaning, and MedHelp appreciates your pitch for a donation.  But I still keep a strict lid on new questions by new participants in existing threads.  Even when they seem to be on topic, typically they are a distraction to the main theme, therefore unfair to the original questioner.  Also, there is no way to select keywords for comments, only original questions--and thus potentially important or interesting issues don't come up in forum searches.

Anyway, I deleted both the "comment" and l.i.b.'s response, which was pretty good.  The questioner is invited to post his/her questions in a new thread.  Or just search the archives; your questions have been addressed before.

Thanks--  HHH, MD

Bear in mind that I can't diagnose you, but I believe you might be coming down with a cold.

I believe Dr. HHH will say you don't need any HIV testing at all, unless it will help your anxiety ease off.

As for the other stuff, you could search the archives on the STD forum.  The same question gets asked there almost every single day about unprotected oral.  And you were protected, so I'd think there would be virtually no risk of getting anything at all.

You are badly overreacting.  Even without a condom, oral sex is very low risk for all STDs, and close to zero risk for HIV.  With an intact condom, you were totally protected against any infection.  Answers to your questions are 1) Zero.  2) Zero.  3) You didn't need STD testing at all.  4) Zero.  You don't need any HIV testing.

And to the most important question:  Yes--indeed you are "worrying over nothing considering...protected oral". You can have unprotected sex right now with your regular partner.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
