No, there is no risk for HIV, thus no testing is needed. EWH
Welcome to the Forum. I'll be pleased to make some comments and suggestions but I really think that you already have the necessary factual knowledge available about HIV risk for HIV and that what you are really wrestling with is that you solicited partners on Craig's list where you know you are likely to find partners who are at somewhat higher risk than you rare comfortable with, at least in retrospect…. and at least the second one was.
As far as your exposures, I am sure you already know that we find there is no appreciable risk for HIV from oral sex. In my opinion, those who are unwilling to acknowledge this are being overly conservative. They are entitled to their opinions, of course (just as you are) but the facts do not warrant worrying about HIV from giving or receiving oral sex, with or without swallowing.
As you probably also already know, the onset of your symptoms has sooner than is typical for the onset of early HIV. thus your symptoms are likely a coincidence or, possibly, a side effect of the medications you have taken.
My advice to you is to not be concerned. It is not warranted. There are no data to suggest that either of the exposure you mentioned placed you at any risk for getting an STD.
I hope my comments are helpful. EWH
Your questions are getting a bit silly. This will be the last answer. You need to spend your time and energy dealing with your anxieties, not asking questions of this sort.
1. Of course not. HIV is also transmitted through hetrosexual sex and injection drug use. That does not change that the exposures you mentioned did not put you at risk for HIV.
2/3. I do not have the papers in front of me an thus cannot comment on them. They like others that came to the same conclusion however underwent rigorous scientific peer review- believe them
End of thread. EWH
Thank You sir for Your Insights. They are my solace. With this One more question, I will stop asking you more Questions..
1. Since the Beginning of this HIV epidemic,MSM transmission rates have been high. In NYC the statistics show about 2000 New Infections per year ... and the number from 21 Big cities also look staggering high. Is the whole blame of HIV transmission to be put only on Unprotected anal sex?
2. With The HOT study and Spanish study, there is a caveat pointed out that the partners of serodiscordanat couples may have been on ART and hence Not infectious!
3. Were these studies having any 'conflict of interests?' Were they NIH studies or funded by pharmaceuticals? I know I am questioning the reliability of these studies.. BUT my whole peace of mind is rested on these studies.. So just wanted to make sure there are robust .. in comparisons with many available case reports..
Thank You sir, Please help me with the questions above. Thank You so much sir
No change in my opinion or advice. A swollen submandibular gland could have many cuases, including gum or tooth disease and a plain old everyday sore throat.
One additonal piece of advice however- stay off the internent. It is not helping you. EWH
Dear Dr. Hook.
The only solace I have is Your post which says "No Risk"
I read stories on forums Of people describing their Seroconversions stories. Then I come back to read your post.. and feel calm. I have immense guilt .. and should Not have done the act that lead to exposure. I have seen You post responses to many "anxious" people like me.
My Bilateral Submandibular Lymphnodes are felt now . It is Been about 10 days My exposure now.. I am am freaking out about seroconversion syndrome..
I understand You have been in clinical practice for a long time with a lot of expertise in this field, ... How does Seroconversion Lymphnodes come up.. Do they come up suddenly and with pain OR do they march from Local to systemic?
I feel a cord like artery which beats below my jaw, and Lymphnode on it .. about 2-3 mm in size and similar on the other side, I have tried to feel them .. many times.. now They do hurt! I Don't remember harboring Submandiblau glands of this size.. I have had one Posterior cervical on left side since Childhood.. I also watch for rash .
I am so lost in this... Please help me ... Guide me ..
Have You never never never seen a case of seroconversion after Oral sex in your practice?
I called The guy whom I had to with .. He was irritated.. at first he said He got tested.. and asked for money.. Then When I called him back and asked for results.. If he was indeed tested.. he yelled back That He has AIDS and He is Postive and Go to Hell!!!" I don't know If thats the truth or he just acted out ..!
That couple with my submandibular gland has driven me neurotic. You are the very few authorities on Internet who claim the low to no risk status Of this activity .. I am so confused ..Tired and Losing myself!
Thank You ..
Are any testes needed at all?
Second one was clearly higher risk .. that makes me more anxious.. !
Please clarify on that one sir...
