Still having concern's

I posted a few day's ago.  I had a encounter with a Sex worker of off craigslist where I recieved oral sex briefly then vaginal sex with a condom on the whole time. Tested at my doctors office at  around six weeks which came back negative.  Then tested with oraquick 1/2 antibody at 52 and 59 day's.  The problem is I did not know that those test were not approved for home testing.  I ordered them off of there website and followed the direction's exactly. I also made sure that they were not expired.  I swabbed both upper and lower gum's very well and made sure I used a stop watch to time.  I know that my exposure was either a low risk or non risk but after finding out these tests were not approved for home use I became very worried how accurate they were. 1) My question's are could the test that I took at my doctor's be a regular antibody test or one of those Duo tests that are conclusive at 4 weeks.  The nurse took two blood samples and I got the results the next day.  I was also tested for STD's were they tested my urine the first time I went pee in the morning which also were negative.   2)My second question is when I removed the condom it was not broken and looked fine, but is there any way there could be a small hole or rip that could not be seen that would let the virus pass through. 3) If i used the oraquicks correctly what are the chances of both tests I took at home being false negative.  information from other people on this site.  Some people on this site say I don't need to retest and other say I must test a 3 month to be sure.  I think I might still  be having some symptom's like possible swollen lymph nodes on left side of neck, and feeling tired sometimes through out the day and maybe light white fuzz on tongue that wont wipe off.  Although my tongue does not hurt or bleed.  I have recently started taking prosac for depression.  My exposure was on July 30 is it possible to still have symptom's more than two months later.  Thanks Again.   AZ11161980

Your anxiety is getting away with you.   I read your post, I understood it and I answered your question.  There should be no need to repeat myself.  YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER TESTING!!!!!!!  It is now time for this thread to end.

I don't see your earlier post. Did you use a different pseudonym?

The baseline perspective from which this answer comes to you is that the exposures you describe did not put you at risk for HIV or other STDs. As we have said more times than I can count, when a condom is used properly and does not break, sex is safe sex and therefore whether or not your partner had HIV or whether or not you test become irrelevant.  Furthermore, just to further make the case, most commercial sex workers do not have HIV and even when condoms are not used HIV is transmitted only once in 1000 episodes of vaginal sex.  Testing in follow-up to a no risk exposure is not needed and worrying about it is an exercise in unwarranted anxiety.

To address your specific questions:
1.  You would have to ask your doctor what sort of test was used. The DUO tests are not yet widely used however so the test you had was probably a standard antibody test.

2.  When condoms fail they break wide open. they do not just leak a little. If your condom had failed you would have no doubt about it.

3.  If the test we performed correctly it would mean that you did not have HIV.

Your symptoms, including your fuzzy tongue are not due to HIV.  Since you did not need testing to start with, you do not need further testing. Had you had a meaningful exposure, the time at which you would have definitive evidence that you did not become infected is 8 weeks, not 3 months

Hope this helps.  You really have nothing to worry about. EWH

Thanks again for your time and knowledge.  Just to be clear I did not know If you saw that I received unprotected oral briefly then vaginal sex with condom on the whole time.  Does that change any thing or do I still need no further testing.  Thanks for everything.

I remain cofident that you do not have STD and that yoru family is not in danger. There are many possible causes of white tongue and almost none fo them suggest STDs (including HIV). One possible cause of the discoloration of your tongue may be the many antibiotics you have taken.

Again, you have no reason for concern.  EWH

I forgot to state oral sex was unprotected but the vaginal sex was protected the whole time.

Thanks for your prompt response.  I think my last post was erased because of repeated anxiety driven question's.  I really appreciate your advice and I will take it to heart.  I think part of my problem is guilt because I made a one time horrible mistake and feel very guilty because I am married with a 2 month year old baby.  I was the one who was worried because my wife was breast feeding and my daughter has had a on going rash on her elbow that has been coming and going for about three week's.  Although my wife has had no symptom's. And we had intertcouse only once for about 2 min and I did not ejaculate.  In my last post I also stated that I had symptom's at seven weeks in which you said was to late for hiv.  My only other concern is my swollen lymph  nodes on my left side in neck and groin.  I have had on going empititamitus in my right testicle from a dirt bike injury.  And was on a bunch of antibiotics like Cipro, bactrim ds for like three months.  Could this cause my swollen lymph nodes and maybe white tongue.  I just need to be sure so I do not put my family in danger.  Let me know if you still feel confident I am ok and I will move on.  Thanks for everything.  You have been extremely helpful and informative.  I have received some great knowledge in genera labout HIV.
