Transmission during Massage & Hand job

Dear Doctor,

Yesterday, I had a massage in a Chinese Parlor. The masseuse gave me a normal massage on my back, then flipped me to massage the front. While she was working on my legs, all of a sudden she started giving me a hand job. In the heat of the moment, I let her continue, and she brought me to ejaculation in 10-15 mins. During the massage she had her cloths on and I didn't do anything that would get any of my part to her body parts. Obviously, her hands was all over me. After the event, I really got irritated of the situation and started contemplating scenarios in my had, what if she had STDs, what if she massaged a person with STDs before me, were the sheets clean, etc, etc.
So, here are my questions:

1- Does this event has any risk for HIV transmission?

2- Does this event has risk for ANY Std transmission?

3- I know that it is too early to test know, but should I be worried and get tested once the window period is over?

4- If this happened to you, personally, would you be watching your self for any sign of Flu/Cold like symptoms in two weeks, and if you had some symptoms would you be worried about any Std's, particularly HIV?

I know that my anxiety might be playing a role here, but I will be very happy if you can sincerely answer these questions. Thanks a lot.

You are correct, the occurrence of syphilis lesions on hands or fingers is nearly unheard of.  The likelyhood that she had a syphilitiic lesion on her hand is far lower than your risk of being struck by lightning.  EWH

Dr.Hook,

Sorry for adding this thread, but I got confused with one thing related to my second question (getting other STDs from handjob) from things I read on other threads, and wanted to conclude here with you.

Specifically, my question is that I have not checked the woman's hands and I am not sure if she had a sore on hand or not. Since syphilis can be transmitted by an active chancre, if there was one on her hand this could have passed syphilis right? Is it because chancre on hand is very rare and that is why you are saying there is only theoretical risk (except from the theoretical risk of herpes and hpv)?

Again, sorry for adding to this thread, but I found enough information on other threads of yours and and Dr.Handsfield's, for all of my concerns except this syphilis thing. I am trying to move on, and this will be my last question here.

Welcome to our Forum.  I will be glad to comment. The situation you describe did not put you at any risk for HIV or other STIs., There is no reason for concern or for testing.  There is no evidence that any STIs, including HIV are ever transmitted through hand to genital contact, EVEN in situations in which genital secretions are transferred from person to person.

1- Does this event has any risk for HIV transmission?
No, there are no instances where this has EVER been documented to occur.

2- Does this event has risk for ANY Std transmission?
No. While there may be a tiny theoretical risk for transmission of some STIs through transfer for genital secretions or infectious material from person to person on someone's hands, this has not been documented and neither of us on this Forum have ever seen or heard of a case of infection transferred this way.

3- I know that it is too early to test know, but should I be worried and get tested once the window period is over?
I see no medical reason at all for testing.

4- If this happened to you, personally, would you be watching your self for any sign of Flu/Cold like symptoms in two weeks, and if you had some symptoms would you be worried about any Std's, particularly HIV?
No, I would have no concerns at all.

I hope these comments are helpful. Please do not worry.  EWH
