Unprotected vaginal sex and ars
Hi docs ,im 20 years onld ... i had 2 times unprotected sex with a girl who most likely is a hiv + on december 10th 2011 and again on 14th i had an unprotected vaginal sex with another girl unknown status. Both in london but the first girl was on holiday here ( iranian girl ) .. and on february 9th i suddenly started feeling itchy every where on my body for 2 days .after that 2 days i woke up on 11th and realised i had some pinhead red/ pinkish dots on my both arms and pain in my sholder especially left one up to my neck and painfull lymph nodes on my neck and armpits since then my whole bodys been in some random pain that i get like in my limbs ,joints especially from my knees down to the feet and shoulders so i got worried and went for a duo hiv test on 11th feb at freedomhealth clinic and the result was negative .. had another duo test on 15th negative again .. since 15th the pains kind of gone to my abdominals including my fingers and been feeling itchy between my fingers and my feet .. had another hiv test ( dont know what it was called but it was antigen/ab hiv 1/2 on 22 february at barnet hospital and it was negative .. But i still get the pain in my joints muscles and abdominal and the rash still on my arms found a bigger 1 on my back .. Ps ive been having sex with my girlfiend since i slept with them two girls and 2 days ago my partner told me she got a cyst Where the gum n cheek meet at the top and shes having a vaginal yeast infection so i sent her to take a duo test at the freedomhealth clinics and the result came negative on 20th february but shes having a cold today aswell .. my question is what do you thing about all this ?? And if its possible for the tests not to be accurate ? Do you recommend another test at 12 weeks ? thank you.. ive been so worried and anxious please reply and read the whole thing i wrote

thanks concerned but what if you get the symptoms at 8 weeks ? Is it still reliable to take the test when having symptoms ? .. And sorry again doctor
If you tested at 8 weeks, it is even better. Any time after 4 weeks. Só 8 weeks and 10 weeks are CONCLUSIVE, according to Doctor HHH.

I didnt test at 6 weeks
doctor why is my question deleted ? Please answer it and i wont comment any more ! your sayin : there has never been someone with a negative result at 6 weeks who became positive later. But i never got tested at 6 weeks !! My first test was 8 weeks past and last one 10 weeks .. So is the test still reliable at this time . Thank you

To accuse MedHelp, and me, of not answering your question is inappropriate and offensive. Your questions were answered; you keep asking the same things in different words, apparently thinking the answer might change -- or you just didn't understand. Or, more likely, you are so distraught you are thinking irrationally and my words are not sinking in. Or maybe English is not your primary language and and you could use the translation help of a friend.

OK, here it is again in different words: the duo test is 100% reliable any time 4 weeks OR MORE after the last possible exposure. After 4 weeks, the results are equally reliable at 6 weeks, 9 weeks, and for the rest of your life. And yes, I AM saying that, to my knowledge, there has never been someone whose duo test was negative at 6 weeks and who later (at any time) turned out to have HIV.

That was my main question but your not answering it doctor please answer my question its my last one i promise ... Please doctor please ... your old enough to understand how a 20 year old boy would think and how they ask questions please doctor your an experienced man .. The reason im asking is because i dont know if i can have unprotected sex with my new girl friend or theres a risk that i might be infected ..Im repeating the question again and praying that you would reply .. I dont understand why is it just money that is important in this world ?!! I go to the FHC to take a test but they never tell me that duo test is not reliable if its past 6 weeks exposure just so i take the test and pay £140 i go back next week again and the doctor there never tell me to come back at 3 months and get tested .. He tells me to take another duo at 9 weeks which isnt reliable so they get the money and when you fimd out after 12 weeks that youbwere actually possitive theyd still say to people that its never happend for the test to give false result .. i hope one day everyone be honest in the world .. Anybody who advises testing at 3 months, after a negative duo test at 6 weeks, either does not understand how HIV testing works or is just being very conservative and careful. To my knowledge, since those tests became available, there has never been someone with a negative result at 6 weeks who became positive later.
And it is wrong that most people "in your shoes" are as frightened as you are. The large majority just accept their doctor's advice about the negative test results and stop worrying about it.
Re-read my replies above; do it carefully and concentrate, think clearly, and stay calm. You do not have HIV. You're just going to have to accept that fact.

doctor im really sorry .. But if you were in my shoes i think you would have been as worried as how i am now .. And ps i tried to contact the FHC but they dont give me any answer so thats why i decided to ask you as you are an expert .. Sir ive got a cold now after all the symptoms ive been gettin and stomach problem im really worried but it seems like noone cares about other people nowdays .. Just 1 more question does smokin effect the immune system to produce antibodys ?? And it says every where that theres nopoint in getting a duo test if the exposure is not within 4 to 6 weeks .. So you need to wait for 3 months to get an antibody test ? Is that right sir please help me doctor im only 20 and had lots of plans for my future but it seems like ive got hiv

Forgot to ask about duo accuracy ... Ive read on some websites that duo test is not reliable when your immune system recognises the infection and trys to fight and make antibodys and thats when you get such symptoms including dry skin, rash ,joint and muscle pain and p24 is undetecteble at this time .. Is that correct doctor ? and right now im having a cold aswell ?

Please re-read my reply and concentrate on all of it. Forget the exposure and symptoms and concentrate on your test results, which PROVE you didn't catch HIV and that something else is the cause of your skin changes. Call or return to FHC if you remain concerned.
thank you doctor .but the thing that makes me worried are the red pikish plotches that ive got on my arms which ive never had before they are diffrent sizes and hard to see but they look like blood vissles .. What do u think about them ?... I got them straight after i felt itchy everywhere and enlarged lymph nodes which sting randomly and joint pain.. And the reason i said that girl was most likely hiv positive is because before having sex i asked her if she had hiv she didnt say anything ... N i was drunk so i didn bother ...Ps she had depression n commited suicide 2 weeks after but she didnt die ... And she was sayin that she got a disease that will kill her !! do you think i shout retest at 12 weeks ?

What makes you think your partner "most likely has HIV"? HIV is certainly very rare in Iran, and also in women in London, no matter where they come from -- under 1 in 1,000, according to the UK Health Protection Agency. That said, of course it was dumb to have sex with a new, casual partner without a condom. I hope that doesn't happen again!
But the level of risk for your exposure doesn't matter, and neither do your symptoms. Your test results prove for sure you did not catch HIV in December. With the duo test, it is simply impossible to catch HIV and have negative test results more than 4 weeks later -- and if I understand correctly, you have had at least 3 tests, the last more than 2 months after the December exposure. And in any case, your symptoms do not suggest a new HIV infection. Many of them are typical for the physical manifestations of anxiety or stress.
Your partner's symptoms also don't suggest HIV, and apparently she has been examined by very competent experts in sexual health. But if it continues or she remains concerned, she should return to Freedom Health for a follow-up visit.
I'm sure the Freedom Health clinic folks have said much the same things. In case you aren't aware, they are the ones who answer questions on the HIV and STD international forum, and their advice is every bit as expert and reliable as mine. (I see you also posted this question on the HIV international forum. Since you asked in a comment on a prior thread, probably it will be deleted without reply. But you wouldn't hear anything you can't learn by phoning FHC directly, nor any advice different than mine -- so I would advise you to save the posting fee.)
Bottom line: you were at low risk for HIV, your symptoms don't suggest it and neither do your partner's, and your test results prove you don't have it. Return to FHC if your symptoms continue or you otherwise remain concerned. But you can forget about HIV.
