Last night I hooked up with another man who claimed to be HIV negative. When we met I asked him again if he was negative or had any other STD's. He said no. We were going to engage in anal sex with me being the insertive top. I put on a condom. I started to tease him a bit by inserting a little into his ***. He pushed back some and I heard the condomn snap. I immediately back out. I freaked out since I have not ****** many men and the few I have I have used a condom. I know I wasn't fully inserted in him. He said that I wasn't really fully inserted in him and said he is HIV negative. I do know he was traveling in the area and did tell me he had been ****** by a few other guys and alleges to have used condoms. But you never know with these types of situations. Anyway, I am freaked out in terms of exposure. Guess will have to test in three months. I was only in him partially and immediatly backed out. I know I wasn't far in because I wouldn't have heard the condomn snap if I was inserted all the way. What are your thoughts in terms of risk? I do realize there is always a risk in this type of situation. However, how realistic is it for me to be worried for the next 3 months.
Welcome to our Forum. I'll try to help. I'm a bit confused however. Was the "snap" you hear also associated with visible breakage of the condom. If so, if there was any penetration there is also associated risk. (i.e. partial penetration counts). On the other hand,, sometimes as air is expelled from condoms or a site of penetration, they can make noises. Please clarify.
Further I should point out that if testing is needed (i.e. if there was unprotected exposure) you can get totally reliable results from antibody testing at 8 weeks and do not need to wait for 3 months to find out if you' gotten infected or not.
I'll have more to say when I hear more details from you. EWH
I had on condom and was teasing outside of his hole just pushed in tip of penis he sort of rolled his butt on it then there was big snap and I immediately backed up. Condom was broke. It had snapped back onto bottom of my penis by base. Since I wasn't very far in him the snap back was loud. I immediately freaked out and he assured me he was negative. I know that technically this poses a risk . I was hoping it is low since he claim to be neg, I was top, and I wad really not pumping, and backed immediately out. This really bothers me ad I was being as safe as I could. I have only had anal sex there times and all with a condom. I have been scared to be sexual that way because I was afraid of this type of thing happening. Has taken me a long time to accept my sexuality and now I'm scared to try this again. I have also been as responsible ad I can. I get tested once or twice a year. Was just tested in Feb and was neg. Hoping risk was low.
Based on his comment and the fact that you were not fully penetrated, nor was the exposure long, I suspect your risk is quite low. FYI condoms break about 1% of the time they are use. They break more often with rectal intercourse than with vaginal intercourse. Lubrication helps reduce the risk of breakage.
Feel free to post your test result. As I said, I anticipate it will be negative. In the interim, try not to worry. EWH
Thanks for your response. As many people on here I am looking for some reassurance. I think we all know that the reassurance is nice but the reality is that unprotected sex of any form has risk associated. MWM sex will always be higher risk no matter what the situation. Even when we take all precautions it is still higher risk. Hard to face the truth - you play this way you deal with the risk. Funny how so many of us want to hear it will be ok. In the long run if we want it to be ok then we need to stop looking for the risk because it will always be the same. Must be hard for you to have to keep hearing the same stuff. Everyone just wants to know it will turn out ok and the only way to do that is get tested. I will just have to deal with the waiting period as it was my choice to enter into the situation. Thanks for you reassurance. I appreciate it. I will also post results as many people do not so those in similar situations never get to really see the outcome of a situation.
I went ahead and emailed the guy and asked his test date. Obviously, I should have asked this upfront instead of just asking his status. BIG LESSON. He was kind enough to email back and told me he was neg when tested on March 18. This obviously makes me feel lots better in terms of the outcome of the situation. It basically means he was 15 days out from his last test. I may just go ahead and wait to do my testing as I would normally do at the 3 month point. Not sure that I need to do it at 8 weeks given that information.
