HIV Diagnosis

by Sadi9, May 07, 2009 11:32AM
At what stage does one's status show reative and at what stage does it show positive. I went for my test 4 months after my last sex encounter but my status came out Reactive. should i go for a second opinion what a the chances that it could come positive. Im really worried. I normally do hiv test annually with no worries.

You need to have a confirmative test done.

I have never heard of reactive. I would retest. If it has been three months since your last unprotected encounter then you should get either a negative or a positive. That will be the answer.

Reactive is a common term used when an antibody test has detected antibodies to HIV. The only way to know if one is positive is by having a confirmative test such as a Western Blot test.
