Hiv and stress

My girlfriend on September 19th 2007 was diagnosed as Hiv positive. I have had countless unprotected sex with her. Once finding out she was hiv positive, I was tested and came back negative. I have to wait 2 more months for my next test but I'm having extreme stress and anxiety. I feel so lost and helpless. I dont know what to do. Also I dont think I can stay with my girlfriend if I stay Hiv negative. I know I will never be able to have sex with her if I keep coming back negative. I dont want to leave her but I dont want to lead her on that I can have a hiv positive and hiv negative relationship. What do I do?

How did she become infected and how long have you been with her?  Condoms are pretty effective so I would say the chances you got infected are low.

I've been with her for 7 months. But I guess you didnt read it write. We never really used condoms. Also we dont know how she got infected.

Just be up front with her.  HIV is not a small issue, and I'm sure she understands that.  it will be worse if you wait to tell her how you feel.  Also, talking to her will be part of your healing process.

dont leave her because of HIV, if u really love her, then u should only worry about protecting yourself when having sex. you are lucky that u got away with it.

Just thought I'd add in my two sense....I'm HIV positive...have been since 2002...and have openly and honestly dated two people, over a year a piece, who were HIV negative.  With both people, we went to a councilor who helped us talk out loud about how we could have sex with each other without endangering their status.  We had fully functional, committed, happy relationships, and I'm glad to say that I am still dating the second one.  So no need to flee, unless you feel that you are incapable of having constant safe sex.  However, if that is true, you may want to reevaluate your sexual lifestyle and perhaps start getting you and your partner tested BEFORE the "countless unprotected sex".

On a side note:  the person who I was dating when I found out I was positive had a very similar experience to what you are currently going through right now.  He turned out negative and I positive.  Within two months he ended things and didn't see me for over a year, saying rather cruel things on the way out the door.  Being ditched by the person I loved, being afraid to turn to my family from shame (at the time), and dealing with being positive was nearly too much for me to handle simultaneously.  Simply make sure that however you deal with this situation, it is with care and with love.

Your girlfriend did'nt know she was hiv + until recently?
You have been dating seven months and you have tested hiv -.
She does'nt know who infected her...What should you do?
I'm going to take an unpopular stance and suggest that you take the next two months to get yourself counciling. I would also suggest sease any future intercourse unless it's unprotected, but i see we are in agreement on this matter already. I honestly don't think you lady has been truthful regarding the goings on here, forgive me for saying so. I really sympathize with her new found status as well, but i don't think you should continue a relationship other than on a  friendship basis. Don't feel guilty about doing so either, it's not an easy thing to date a person who is hiv positive, plus you have a lot to get through Scaredbad. Most test poz @ 30 days and given that you have already tested negative it seems that you may have a very good chance @ staying negative so don't ever risk it again. After this, safe sex always my friend, stay strong...
