Question about Lymph Nodes

Question about Lymph Nodes

About 2 months ago I tested positive for HIV. So far I've been in great spirits. I am blessed that with todays medications that I'll be able to live a normal and long life just like someone who is negative -- but of course I'll have to take better care of myself to do that.

Any who -- I have this swollen lymph node behind my ear. It's someone embarrassing having it because one of my close friends noticed it and said thats a common HIV symptom -- not to mention, I live in Washington, D.C. A city that has a high rate of HIV infections yearly. Of course I told him no, it was from another illness I am suffering from (a total lie).

But my question is -- will the lymph nodes go away on their own? Or is there treatment to do so?

So far I am not on any meds. My viral load is about 120k and my CD4's are a little over 600.

The only problems I've noticed physically is that I can not digest fatty foods as well as I use to. I do get constipated easily so I had to change my diet. Other than that, I am great. I have loads of energy and I have a positive mindset. I can honestly say finding out I was HIV positive makes me appreciate life so much more now. The medicines we have now weren't even available 10 years ago. I am looking at this as God providing me with a 2nd chance. :-)

i think you are in acute infection period ,the lymph nodes can go away on their own.

Teak -- they were providing me advice/information about lymph nodes. When I asked you -- you failed to respond. They provided me with some information that I thought was helpful.

Abby0511 -- Thank you. I spoke to my doctor about it and she said the same thing. She said they will go away on their own soon. If not soon, they will definitely go away whenever she believes it's time for me to start treatment.

Follow the guidelines of this forum. You're no different than anyone else. "This is a forum for individuals who are HIV positive or have AIDS to connect and support each other." It not for people that are negative to come into this forum. If you don't agree with the guidelines then go to another forum. These guidelines where put in place for a reason.

Thanks mj6000 -- I read previous post by you prior to creating this thread. It made me smile :-). I am aware with the new medications I could live a normal life expectancy if I chose to live a healthy lifestyle. So far I'm doing great. Sometimes I lack an appetite and have muscle aches, but that's it so far. But I noticed when I started exercising regularly -- those symptoms went away.

I slowed down a lot on my drinking and stopped smoking COMPLETELY. Lately I've been craving vegetables like crazy! It's insane! LOL.

No one said you wasn't positive. The reply had nothing to do with you.

I am from SA and you inspired me. I am also + and have the lymph nodes. I am afraid to tel my parents, I am afraid to see the doctor. I am just living in fear. I am now 2 years + and stil feel healthy. I have not checked my cd4 s wel s viral load as i am afraid to even do check ups that are hiv related. My biggest fear is, why the lymph nodes? Is it the indication of the weak body system or the strong body system? Th worst part is i have got no glue regardin body system s wel as sicknesses, sometimes i can not even describe th pains i am feelin, even though not sevire pains.
