Is this just me ? unprotected oral sex, frottage and hiv rapid tests.

Hello.

read some of posts and would like to say that you guys are great.

Not sure, if this is just me,but i have started to belive that i am thinking too much. i am 27 yr
bi, had 2 encounters 3 yrs back. 1 unprotected oral sex and other genital frottage(penis-penis rubbing).
2 months back,i started worrying about hiv.so i looked at different forums, also took unigold rapid
test 3 times and was negative.folks in medhelp claimed that i have no risks.but still, different
questions come to my mind, like what if the rapid test didnt detect any rare strains, also what if
i may have hiv2. all these thoughts.is this common? or have i lost it. any help /advice would be
appreciated.

thanks !

I didn't say you should worry, I said the strains are predominantly present in Africa. It is a NON-issue. You are HIV negative.

Thanks so much for the information Joggen. My rapid UNIGOLD test was 3 yrs post exposure and it was negative. I know the guilt part is killing me as I have started seeing a girl lately. Just for my information with reference rare strains/hiv-2 , you mentioned one should worry only if you are in parts of africa? but wouldnt virus travel if someone from around world has an encounter in africa ,get infected and come to US, UK,India infected? secondly, Unigold test is fda approved for hiv-1 , would it still detect hiv-2 ? thanks again.

Nothing that you describe was a risk except for the "anal dipping" that you mention in your other post. If you took a rapid test at least 3 months after that episode then you are HIV negative. Rare strains/HIV-2 are not an issue unless you live in certain parts of Africa, and the tests will pick them up anyway.
