hiv blood on door handle

Just a general query here. If a door handle has some wet blood on it (say 2-3 drops) that was left by an HIV positive person a second ago. Can another person who comes and touches this blood get infected if the person had a cut that was place directly on the blood or if the person ended up unknowingly rub his/her eyes, or picked his/her nose or tried cleaning his or her ear ?

I know its a silly question but I'd appreciate it if someone could answer this query.

Having ocd dose not create a risk.

So, the chances of having hiv blood, less than 1%
Blood on a door handle, less than 1%
You having a cut that would be a concern, 1%
Touching the blood straight after 1%

Do the maths, its more or less impossible, theorectical maybe, reality no. Besides, you would need more than a few drops and it woukd need to get into your blood stream, so your concern is not an issue, at all.

no I know its impossible to have something like this to happen. I mean a second's worth gap between touching wet blood is not possible but I guess it is possible to have a few seconds of gap (more than 1). I do have OCD and have been anxious related to HIV. I am on medication and the medication is helping...but I have had a hard time swallowing the fact that hiv is no infectious when outside the human body even in fresh fluid like (blood/semen etc) no matter how fresh the fluid is.

I also at times when we say not a single case of an exposure has occurred from say blood on door handles or other inanimated objects  then why is this even a theoretical risk

yes thats correct, although do you really belive that will ever happen?

Its paranoia buds and not worth thinking about, or you might as well build a bunker for when north korea drop bombs all over the place. So worry less about pointless things :-)

I guess I interest is in basically being sure that the moment hiv infected fluid is out of the body and on an inanimated object all chances of infection are gone...right ?

Hiv cannot live outside the host, so if the impossible situation ever happened, although in my 40 years i have never had such a situation, you would not be at risk.
