once). Ever since I contracted gc, I have been going nuts – thinking I might have contracted HIV too. I have never had sex since (because I’m scared). Last July, I experienced hematospermia while masturbating. The same urologist who saw me for my gc said I probably have prostatitis (I didn’t dare ask him about HIV). He prescribed saw palmetto capsules which seemed to have helped (no more episodes of hematospermia). Last month, I developed a large aphthous ulcer on my upper lip that took three weeks to go away (alum did the trick). Last week, I again developed an aphthous ulcer, in my lower lip this time. I placed alum again before going to sleep but noticed upon waking that I developed multiple lesions (looked like mucoceles) in my lower lip. I discontinued the application of alum and some of the lesions subsided; but some developed into aphthous ulcers again. Help! I’m losing my mind. I know you’ll tell me to get tested but I just want to know -- are these symptoms (prostatitis/aphthous ulcers) due to possibly HIV? I haven’t mustered enough courage to get tested yet (I know you don’t have patience for people like me saying that) – and I am afraid if ever I’ll turn out to be positive that I won’t be able to afford meds. What is the risk that I have contracted HIV? Please take note, I contracted gc with just one brief unprotected encounter. Is it possible to have contracted just gc from a person who has both gc & HIV? Doctor, in your experience, how many cases have you handled that are female-to-male transmission in just one unprotected encounter? Sorry for the long letter. Hope you’ll have time to answer me.
