3 minute oral encounter in Vegas.. HIV risk?

by dumbinvegas, Nov 19, 2006 12:00AM
Hey Doc, great forum, and I've read the many responses concerning HIV and oral sex.. Please help, I'm in a panic!  Here's my unique experience:

Recently went to a swingers club in Vegas... I didn't participate in anything, until at the end of the nite, I got approached by a female who seemed to be a man of all things!  shemale? or trans?  anyway, to make a long story short, she ended up giving me oral to completion,(I ejacualted in her mouth) took about 3 minutes or less... afterwards I freaked!  Within 30 minutes I was in my hotel room, cleaning my penis in the shower... I noticed NO blood, or NO cuts, scrapes on my penis (before or after)... I know my risk for HIV is low, but here is what kind of concerns me... she told me about how she had sex with this guy earlier in the nite and he cummed in her mouth (like an hour before my encounter)... so my question is:

1) Would I be exposed to his *** also? or am I overreacting?
2) No symptoms of any other STD at this point, it's been 4 days, am I clear there or do I need to get tested, (do I need symptoms for them to test?)
3) Does the cleansing of the penis after the encounter help lower my risk of infection of STD's/HIV?
4) Do I need an HIV test in 4 weeks?
5) When can I resume having sex with my girlfriend? I don't want to give her anything obviously...

Just stupid stupid stupid!! Thanks for your time Doc!

You received oral sex.  That is always low risk, with few if any proved HIV transmissions in the 25 year history of HIV transmission.  Almost certainly all her other customers are like you, ie not HIV infected, and anyway the notion of being infected through other men's secretions in her mouth is too far a stretch to worry about.

1) You are definitely overreacting.  2) I do not recommend STD testing unless you develop symptoms of STD.  3) Who knows?  When the risk is virtually zero, cleaning probably cannot make much additional difference.  4) No, you do not need HIV testing.  5) Resume sex with your partner at any time.  If you want a special measure of assurance, wait 2 weeks to make sure you don't develop urethral discharge or penile sores.

To be honest, I don't care that people characterize their exposures as stupid, or have other expressions  of regret.  Let's just speak to the facts of the case.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
