I had unprotected anal sex on august 15th with my ex who has been living out of state for the past year.  A couple days later I started with a stiff neck, chills and fatigue, but no "sick" feelings (ie cold, nausea, etc).  I was tested 4 weeks later for HIV and HSV.  Ironically, a few days after I was tested I started having bowel problems.  Bright red blood in my stool, and gas, bloating, constipation (no diarrhea or vomiting), but the blood did not appear every time I went, maybe 1 in 3 times.  I have a lot of bowel disorders in my family (and my mother has IBS), and I was under an extreme amount of stress.   Also, I read that with HIV it's not just blood inthe stool, it's diarrhea with blood, and mine were not diarrhea.  Can you develop herpes ulcers inside of the anus/colon if that's where the exposure was, and if so, could an open sore cause bleeding or gas/constipation?  About a week after the bowel issues began I got my results back and they were both negative.  I'm going back to get tested again on friday (7 1/2 weeks).  Does anyone know the accuracy windows? In other words, if I get a negative result from this next test, what are the chances of it being correct?  At this point, if I have only herpes I will be relieved, I am really worried about HIV. My ex is not returning my calls, or I would ask him to get tested so I could see.

Never have unprotected anal sex, or without the use of plenty of water base lube. It is common to get tears in the anus without the use of lube. You need to test at 12 weeks post exposure for a conclusive result. Can you get herpies (herpes) of the anus. YES. Had you used a comdom you wouldn't be having these worries.

I know, I've learned my lesson now, trust me.  I don't know what got into me, we had been together 8 years and I don't really know...we were having vaginal sex and he for some reason decided to go in 'there' when we had never done that before, so...God, I don't know why I didn't say no, I'm good at standing up for myself, but with him I get weak.  BUT the stress I'm going thru....I will never have unprotected sex of ANY kind with a boyfriend till he puts a ring on my finger, it's just not worth it.
