50 Days Negative...READ MY STORY (it will help)

Hi all,

Little bit more then 50 days ago well say 2 months now.  I had unprotected sex with the same woman 2 different times about a little less then a week apart, last time being about 2 months ago as I said, no other exposures after that.

Was nervous at first cause I found out some more information on this girl I did not know very well, and had heard some things that made me want to get tested.  She didnt want too because she didnt wanna know, but im telling you, its not on someone else, its your life, if you think there was possible exposure it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get tested.

So i waited about a month and went to my doctor who told me that with blood work they could test for almost all common STDs including HIV.  He told me I should wait to at least the 6 week mark before testing though.  So as I said I waited till day 50 till last exposure which would have been 55 days since the first one, which is 1 shy of 8 weeks.

Anyway, I was ordered an ELISA test, platelette testing, Hepatitis panel, PCR, and urinalysis.  I went to Quest Diagnostic as it is who my insurance provider works with and did the test.  I wont  lie it was nerveracking sitting there, having the blood taken, and urinating in the cup.  But i got it all done, then came the wait.  I wont lie to you about how nervous I was, but I was.  3 Mornings later my doctors office called but it wasnt the doctor I see regularly but one of the others who works there (...i really got nervous there, but he said he just called cause my doctor was off that day, and he thought it would be extremely important to give me the results that day).   That being said it came back all clean.  So I breath easy now and move on.

What i really wanted to say is because I am a huge worrier always have been is that, dont worry about anything during the "window period" and all the way up to the point where you actually have your testing done.  Your body is a scary thing and so is your mind, I thought about it all the way up to that test day, I have it I know I do, i was actual preparing how would I brerak the news to family and loved ones.  Im tellin you anxiety can lead to insanity, I was worried I saw myself getting those symptoms or at least thinking I did, and I was litterally killing myself for no reason.

Anyway so about when I went and got my tests (7 weeks) I started to feel symptoms related to early HIV, but I thought it was too late, but they were all there, cough, glandular swelling, rash, (bumps that i swore were legions) fatigue all day.  Anyway to make the story shorter, there are plenty of things that could cause the symptoms, turns out i Just had your standard respitory infaction, and the fatigue, the rash  was from medicine which the doctory had prescribed me years before for a heredity thing in my family of tremors.  Well i started taking the generic and had an alergic reaction, and thats what caused all this..

ALL IM SAYING IS GET THE TEST, and only control what you can control, if you worry about it will eat you alive, and the doctors on this site know more about it then your family doctors if they say 6-8 weeks, and your negative your fine.
Its 2008 not 1995.  Get your test and find out.

Awesome mate. Congrats. I've had a negative at 6 weeks and 1 day but I am still having crazy symptoms. Leg muscle pains that get worse as the day goes on, tingling all over the body, warm/cold sensations on the skin, sore back muscle and I have noticed that my skin is getting worse (more acne prone), big time GI issues (tonnes of gas, bloated and little bowl movements). Its destroying me literally...   I had unprotected oral on a women and protected vaginal but now im questioning everything. Keep thinking about the 42.5 day negative (rapid INSTI HIV1/2) and my chances....     I wake up at night and I am sweating.. i look in the mirror and check my tongue and mouth every time I get a chance. I check my body for rashes, and today I have developed a slight sore throat....      dont know what this all is. I'm going for another test this friday for my 7th week but am very freaked out.
