(I posted twice...but other thread is "3 week Negative DUO" for reference purposes)
Okay here it is. I just tested a big fat NEGATIVE at 45 days post exposure. What a relief, they freaked me out with their approach this time (nurse wouldn't tell me results, said I had to wait for Doc..arggh).
In fact I was negative for entire STD panel again. I already feel more relaxed. With that being said...All Experts (Teak, RegJoe, Daveansh
,Extreme, Chris, etc) ...answer some questions for me to help bring me some closure
1) Is the test 98% reliable?
2) Given exposure and test results, would I basically be defying science if I tested positive beyond this point?
3) Should I test at 3 months?
4) With a negative STD panel at 11 days and 45 days, and no breakouts (herpes), is it conclusive that I don't have any STDs?
5) Can I without worry resume normal relations with GF
6 Did I highly over-react to this whole situation :) (be kind)
7) If my symptoms at week 1.5-2.5 were ARS would I have def. been positive at 45 days?
I would appreciate if as many as possible could answer because many of you have a different approach. Thanks to all. I don't want to say this is my last post because I don't know how the anxiety will shift once this initial relief has worn off. You have all been a crutch for me during this episode and I am enternally grateful.
Hopefully this will shed some light to future Forum users.
1) A test at 45 days (6+ weeks) is 98-99% conclusive
2) I haven't heard of a case where someone tested negative at 6 weeks and then positive later
3) Yes, just to ease your mind
4) I would say its 99.9% conclusive
5) Yes, but use protection
6) No, its normal for people to feel anxiety, I certainly did
7) I would think so...BUT, you never diagnose HIV
You know what the answer to testing again is going to be! No! No! No! You factor in a zero risk (licking pu$$y), and an over 95% accuracy (6 week test), and a less than 1% (stripper) chance she was infected. You have a very very conclusive negative. Go celebrate!
Okay...here it is. Still looking for closure. You guys have been great; just bare with me a little longer. 45 daynegative had me feeling really good considering low exposure. This is not neccesarily HIV
related...but since mmost of us our worry warts it may be applicable. Through out the past 45 days I have been having prolonged redness in my hands, and other parts of body. It fades over time (15 minutes to 3 hours). I don't recall having this before.
Do you think its probable that stress/anxiety can cause this. I worked out for the first time last night and then woke up twice while sleeping with numbness in left hand fingers (they fell asleep completely). I have a conastant stiffness/ache in neck and back of shoulders. In self diagnosing I would hope this is stress related...any thoughts? I would think it would calm down now since my latest negative test.
Would you agree that Anxiety can worsen body circulation? I am starting to believe I've caused more "physical" harm to my body by stress than the actual exposure. A lesson to be learned by those new member to this site.
Okay...I'm probably living up to my name with this one...but it has made me nervous again. Another symptom I had (didn't even know it was related to ARS until recently) was a pain on my left abdomen. I rently discovered that the spleen can become enlarged during ARS and cause pain. Apparently the spleen is located on the left side (never new this before). Pain was mostly during first 3 week period. As you know I tested negative at 45 days. Does this change anything. My mind is playing tricks on me I hope. Please reply.
1) Magnitudes are not called for. No one including experts can't rate the %ge of conclusiveness at 6th week. In practicality all I can tell you is that you didn't have a risk to begin with and for some one with a real risk 6 week is definitely very indicative.
2) NO, testing was not warranted at the first place and you can't test positive untill you have a real risk and contract the virus.
3) Well, if a test at 3 months can get you rid of your mental block (that you have a risk) go ahead but HIV is not your problem for sure.
4) I can't comment on this one, I don't follow other STDs
Okay....I've been doing really well for the last 3 weeks. Last couple of days I've had a small lump (colorless and painless) on inside of upper lip. I tested negative at 45 days. Should I be conerned. I may go in for my 9.5 week test. I think I can truly relax after a negative at 66 days. Any thoughts? Please reply...kind of getting stressed again.
Ease your mind, I was stressed out for 2months, went for the 8week test came negative. I had enlarged armpit lymph nodes, sore gums, pain in hands/feets for past month - doc had warned me that I would make myself sick if anxiety didnt stop. Your body will generate almost every known symptom you can think of by stress.
Thanks Johnny. I think I will test again. After 9.5 weeks, will there realistically be a need for a 12 week still? I wish this would all be over. Every headache or twich I get pushes my mind right back to HIV. I'm most scared of not being certain and potentially passing it to my GF.
I completely understand what you are going through!! I am there myself I tested negative at 2 1/2 months and I am still having anxiety issues which might be whats making me feel crappy! Good Luck with everything ~ I am sure you are fine!!
Listen to clear the air just get tested after 12 weeks (3 months) after possible exposure because about 97% of infected indiviuals test positive after that time...Do NOT listen to these PEOPLE over the internet ONLY a DOCTOR can diagnose YOU (and tell you what you do and do not have)! YOU must remeber your immune system is like NO other and science (nor anyone over the internet) cannot say EXACTLY when and whether you'll test positive. Think smart! Don't be stupid ImStupid.
I disagree with Anwers on this one, as performing cunnilingus, as far as I can determine, does not appear to be a risk for HIV. Combine that with a 6 week negative (a test I am not sure you even needed to take), and it seems to me you are good to go.
So, while your immune system is indeed "like no other", I do not believe that this even matters in your case (and really, not even sure what that means), as you did not have any appreciable risk in the first place.
Being paranoid, I called my doctor to again go over the other STDs they tested for. They went over the list of tests....all negative, but realized that tht throat culture came back positive for Strep! The tests were done almost 3.5 weeks ago. What an oversight. Do they realize what I've been through...
This would likely explain the issues I've been having. Since I am going in I am going to get a full panel done once again. It will be 66.5 days post expsore. Assuming it all comes back negative (God willing) I am going to let it go. Going to do Syph, Herpes, HIV 1/2, Hep A and HPV. (Da works)
Wish me luck. I'll post results. I can't believe this.....
Yes! Strep throat means you got the big HIV. Seek shelter immediately I will join you shortly. If I don't show up, whatever you do,,,,,,,,,,,,don't come out!
I was half joking...I don't think the strep is indication of HIV. If anything it gives me relief, because I know the possible cause of the symptoms I've been having. Damn the docs for not notifying me sooner. Anyway, went in for another throat culture to see if first one was accurate. I'm going to take another hiv test as well to put this to rest....
To all those that continue to support me.....I just took a 67.5 day OraQuick and it was a big Fat Neagtive. I think this may be it for my testing. I feel so relieved. (mostly because I am past the HHH's 6-8 week range for mostly conclusive).
For those familiar with OraQuick, is it as reliable as any other normal blood test?
Special thanks to Chrisneedshelp and ExtremeStress for always answering my questions (as irrational as they've sometimes seemed). I was scared and needed that support.
