6 week negative But Worried about the Lab Techs quality

Dear All,

I tested today at 6 week mary and tested -ve. Thanks for all your support. The testing site told me no further testing needed as they use two kits for testing. ( 1. First Response HIV Card Test 1-2.0 and 2. HIV TRI-DOT).

But the testing site is HIV and AIDS hospital ( ygcare, chennai, india).

Before my blood drawn the previous people are HIV+ who came there for their CD4 count test. When the lab technician called me and he had the needle ready to draw my blood. I am really worried he did not remove any cover infront of me. In many hospitals they do infront of me. Also I have seen that he is using the same gloves for all patients.

He also little un organized and he had blood stains in his shirt.

Also while he inserted the needle he touched the needle for better positioning.

I called up the the help line of the hospital they said for every person they use new needle and new gloves. I knew new gloves is lie.

All you guys said my previous exposure is NO RISK... I think I put my self now in real risk now.

Tomorrow  I am planning to hospital and talk to some one there.

Since 99% of folks come to this place are HIV+ and So now I am thinging I have choosen wrong place for testing.

Yes they would use new gloves.
Even if they didn't (though expect they did) there is no risk
Even if the last patient was positive with erormous viral load and the phlebotomist or nurse had blood on their gloves the virus would die and it would not be possible t get infected from the situation. HIV is not that robust
Lots of phlebotomists put their finger near the end of the needles to position them.

If blood spots on clothing was a risk anyone in the medical profession wouldn't still be wearing a blood stained piece of clothing out of fear of getting infected themselves.

Your fears are completely out of proportion and a read through the Doctors' forum archives would educate you more on the real risks of HIV infection.

I am very thanks full for your response on previus question.

I am concerned :

1. Question and doubt is he really changed my needle to draw my blood?. Since the previous one was HIV+. My worries he did not uncover the needle infornt of me. He was holding the exposed needle ready to draw blood.

2. He always put his finger on top end of the needle ( which enters the body) to insert for every one. Do you think its not a risk? Since if he touches all the needles like that ( 99% are HIV+).

If you people find any risk please let me know atleast I can talk to some one in the clinic to work on the lab technicians.

NO REQUEST PLEAE BO NOT DELETE THIS QUESTION. OR TAKE ANY ACTION on my account.
