7 weeks 3 days negative..yet evelated ALT/AST, abdominal cramps and weakness

Dear All,

I have been going thru the archives here since my exposure. It has been very informative.

My 7 week 3 days ELISA came back -ve. But I still have elevated liver enzymes..ALT=116 and AST=33. Do elevated liver enzymes suggest seroconversion?

Based on the symptons(yellow discharge/burning sensation) I was treated for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea around 2 months ago and was on dosage of Azithromycin and Doxycycline. During the dosage I started experiencing these symptoms which have subsided considerably but are still there. Almost a month ago my ALT was 125. I have quit drinking since i was on dosage.

My HepA/B/C are negative. So is mono n syphillis (syphilis).

Also i experience abdominal cramps and weakness.

I had read that elevated liver enzymes suggest primary HIV infection. Would this be a considerable symptom?..Or would it due the Azithro/Doxy drugs?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Sorry, forgot to mention but out of curiosity I had done a CD4 test as well which was not that encouraging.

CD4=546 and CD8=417 with the CD4/CD8 ration being 1.32

Yes, it could. So could meds, etc. There are actually quite a few possible causes of elevated liver enzymes. Listen to whatever your doctor tells you.

Hey,

Yep - relax. I was freaking out about elevated liver enzymes too - thought Hep or HIV (along with other things). Tested out to a year - nothing (not a single STD or HIV).

The deal is - I went to a specialist  - major big live guy - he did liver CT scans, bacterial tests, lots of deep blood tests for esoteric iron stuff, HEP, fatty liver, etc... I had elevated #s for 6 mos (between tests, probably still do).

This guy sees EVERYBODY here about liver. Result?

Lose weight, stop eating ****. Typical elevated #s for a moderate overweight/higher cholesterol person - esp. white male (which is what I am) with genetic predisposition. No HIV, no HEP, just too much barbecue, etc.

So  -relax. In fact, without other BLARING symptoms and blood related results, the LEAST common thing to raise those numbers would be HIV. MOST COMMON - shitty diet.

Get some exercise. I plan to.

alt,ast could be impacted by meds and a other issues.
as for your cd4, those could change from morning to afternoon.
take the 7.5 wks negative test as highly encouraging. have it repeated at 13 wks for confirmation.
