7 weeks ELISA antibody test

Hi Doctor

I have oral (deep throat) and protected vagina sex (not sure whether any break at condom) with a china prostitute(chances she is hiv positive is high) 10 weeks ago. After the sex, i realised there is a broken skin on the skin on my penis but not painful and no sign of blood.

Symptoms
15 days after exposure - Low grade fever (less then 100F), very tire, loss appetite and gassy stomach, lasted for 5 days.

6 weeks - Swelling lymph node at my neck, stiff neck, mucles pain at my armpit and groin area but not sure is it any swelling lymph note in these areas.

7 weeks (52days) - ELISA rapid antibody test - negative

10 weeks - Swelling lymph node at my neck since the 6th weeks still there. On top of that i felt two more swelling lymph nodes at my neck which are very painful. No fever and other symptoms. Now i have 3 nodes that is swelling at my neck. I am very worry about this swelling lymph nodes as i could not explain why it is there.


Question
1. Can i be infected through the exposure above?
2. Can i relied of the 7 weeks result?
3. Can my test at 12 weeks later turn positive?
4. Is all ARS symptoms happen in the same time or one and other in few weeks time? Say 2 to 6 weeks after exposure? Is my symptoms suggest HIV infection?
5. Will my test at 7 weeks reliable if my first symptoms is 2 weeks after the exposure?
6. I know the probability of me infected is low. However, the 10 weeks symptoms worry me so much as i have read a lot about swelling lymph nodes indicate HIV infection.
7. Is it normal if the swelling lymph nodes painful?  

I am very worry and need your advice to move on.

low risk move on you were protected 7 week test almost proves you dont have hiv but retest if you feel you have to thats what cdc says to do also dont read on symptoms

As Dr HHH mentioned, one of the most common symptoms for HIV is enlarge lymph nodes all over the body. Today i just found out a swelling lymph nodes around my groin area. Is low grade fever considered symptoms? I have no high fever so far.

Do you know is that painful if the lymph nodes swelling? The test only said more then 95% of new infection can be detected. I still have 5% chance getting it.

One more thing that is scare me so much is my wife recently caught a flu like symptoms. I did not have sex with her since my last exposure until after i got my 7 weeks result, negative. My last sexies with her was 9 days ago. She has stuffy/running nose, fever, cough, sore throat and tireness. Some people said stuff/running nose is not hiv symptoms. I really worries if i infected her.

You know this is upsetting to read. I guess Mintjuleps is right to some degree after all man. Either your married or your not man, if your going to do this you need to come clean with your wife. Does'nt this bother you @ all? She's just going thru life unsuspecting and your out tom cating around with high risk partners...sorry to judge, but i don't get it..

Chapeau. This is the stupiest thing i ever did. This is my first and will be last sex encounter outside my marriage.

After reading your post, do you mean those symptons shown i am infected and the 7th weeks ELISA is false negative?

You didn't have a risk so your negative ELISA means you've never have been exposed ever.

The unprotected Oral sex worry me so much. My question, how long the HIV virus can stay alive in the prostitute mouth/throat since she perform deep throat to other customers before me? If there is any semen/pre-cam in her mouth/throat and my penis might be contacted with those semen. Can i be infect by this way?

I will retest at 12 weeks to be sure.

HIV is not alive and it won't stay viable in someone's mouth. You didn't need the first test let alone a retest.

One more question - Is the rapid ELISA test, which only need few drops of my blood and the result can be shown within 15 mins is one of the newest testing available? If yes do you know what generation is it? I did my test in a Government hospital in Indonesia. No sure what generation of testing kid they use. The 6-8 weeks teory antibodies test is only applicable to new testing kids.

How does the enlarge lymph node feel like? Is the slight pain under my armpit, behind the my knee, groin area and neck show that those lymph nodes in this area swelling? I have check to some website, these areas are full of lymph nodes but i can't feel them, maybe some are deep inside this area. The slight pain tell me that there are swelling?

Hey!!!! Please listen to what I am about to write. You have been told that you did not have a risk to begin with. The proof is in what you have told us. You wrote you had unprotected oral and protected vaginal. You also wrote you had a negative rapid (which is as accurate as any other test) at 7 weeks. All of this together means your negative. the reason you can't let it go is because you keep thinking prostitute, chinese, saliva on penis. quit it. we have been there, maybe even the same girl (just kidding) and it was all irrational fear. quit trying to feel lymph nodes or you will start to feel them from aggravation.
