I'll second that Teak..cuz that's what I remember the Doc sayin over on the HIV Prevention Forum..
Off the top of my head is someone who is on Chemo or someone that is on antirejection drugs for transplants.
Anyone have any comment on what would constitute a severely suppressed immune system?
Okay, thank you. As far as I know I have a "normal" immune system. From what I have read I also understand (sometimes hard to grasp) that a 9 week negative is strong. Thank you, again.
Teak what exactly constitutes a severely suppressed immune system? I'm always fatigued, always suffering from aches and pains. Just wondering, is it this simple: if your immune system is so suppressed that it wouldn't be able to produce antibodies, would you know about it?
PS I tested negative at three months
Unless you are on Chemo, antirejection drugs for a transplant, an IV drug user or you have a severe immune suppressed system, then you don't have to worry about late seroconversion. Your 9 weeks is a good sign at to what you 13 weeks conclusive test will be.
What are your thoughts on late seroconversion? Am I in a twisted way trying to look for bad things? Is it too far a stretch? Is the 9 week conclusive to where I should worry no more or is additional testing necessary? To be exact, it had been 65 days since encounter. I see you all (most) have much more experience and knowledge than myself so I value your insight. Thank you in advance.
We all have been there. Every little nook and cranny looks auspicious to us when dealing with this facet of HIV.
Good Luck...stay safe.
Thank you. I keep telling myself the same thing but then something tells me different. I have this mind-set that if I have sex I am doomed. Maybe just hyper-sensitve to my body now...not sure. Will probably re-test at 6mths. to avoid further paranoia. 9 week negative does put me at "some" ease....for the moment.
If you've done any searching through this forum, you've probably seen it stated many times that Dr Handsfield (on the moderated forum) has never seen someone test negative 4-6 weeks after exposure then go on to test positive at a later date.
With a nine weeks negative... sounds like you're in the clear.
Best of luck!
