A quick question about the throat---PLEASE READ!!!!!!

1. I've had a sore throat for about 3.5 weeks now. Is that how long it will last if I was infected. I was hoping it would be mono.

2. Anti-bodies are also developed for mono, so if I did go and take a HIV test, would it come out positive b/c of the mono antibodies?

But in general, does HIV warant a 3 week sore throat?  And will the aniti-bodies for mono give a positve for HIV during the anti-body test.

I was tested after 4 weeks and it was negative, but that was too early.

Okay,

1. You didn't have a risk

2. lets say you had a risk, your mono result has nothing to do with the HIV test since only HIV test can determine the HIV infection.

3. Only sore throat no other symptoms is not ARS, a fever is almost always associated with the ARS

4. I bet my house on this one, your test result will be negative even if you drag this issue to the 12th week test.

5. I think you need to seek counseling and move on.

Well I was the giver in the oral sex and it was unprotected.  But he didn't climax. I was down on him for about 6 sec. at the most.  I'm a still not at risk?

No antibodies for mono will not interfer with your HIV test.

Well i had  a similar exposure like yours almost 10 months ago... Received oral sex from a pros.

I had a sore throat after around 2-3 weeks of my exposure and it was severe... i was dead sure that i was positive. i tried almost all the medicines but they didnt work.

I gathered courage and went for my Hiv antibody test at 5 weeks... Negative..
then again at 8 weeks --- negative

and then again at 13 weeks... Negative..

just to tell u that i still had the Sore throat ...it lasted for almost 2 months... then a cousin of mine suggested MOX 500 (antibiotic) and i took that for 5 days (twice a day) .. and my sore throat was gone !!

Do not take any medicines without consulting your doctor.

and dunt worry abt ur sore throat...

If u exp ARS... there will be multiple symptoms and they will start 2-4 weeks after exposure and will last arnd 1-2 weeks....they will come and go all at once.
