AIDS progression, etc.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I am a gay male, 23.

If I was exposed to AIDS in late 2004, do you suppose that by now I would've experienced some sort of definitive symptoms? Since then I've been sick the way I've always been, which is rarely ever. And, when a cold does come around, I tend to get rid of it fairly easy. I have had tingling hands in the past, but just associated that with poor diet. I guess my first question would be, what is the natural progression of the (untreated) AIDS virus? Or is it based on person to person?

Lastly, a question you're probably sick of, I'm sure, but please ease my mind. In my lifetime I've given 10 or 11 blowjobs, none involving condoms or ejaculation in my mouth, and most with strangers. A few months ago I took a trip to the dentist and she informed me that I had mild gum disease, which of course freaked me out, as I tend to be OCD about oral hygiene. Are the odds still in my favor on this one?

Again, thanks for your time.

I think you'll be fine, but if the anxiety is killing you, why don't you go get tested today?

Oh I see,  your anxiety is understandable.

Your risk is real, but for a one time incident the risk would be lower. HIV transmission depends on a host of variables.  But from what you mentioned I believe you will be ok.

While you wait for your test, stay productively busy, do more outdoor activities.  Time will pass more quickly than you may imagine.

After re-reading this, I realized how vague I was to begin with. In 2004 I might have shared a needle (my only IV drug use) with a friend of mine who later died from an overdose. At the time he was in a monogamous relationship with another friend of mine (female), who recently tested HIV negative. She assures me that I will test the same. The test is next week... the anxiety is killing me!!!

The bottom line is , did you test for HIV?  And if yes, what the result?
