1/2000 chance you'll transmit HIV through female to male high risk sexual behavior (again high risk meaning unprotected sex/unprotected sex with injecting drug user)
1/200 chance you'll transmit HIV through male to male high risk contact....i don' think i need to get into further detail of what that is..
Chances or Sex workers/escorts of having HIV is very low, women with HIV in general is very low in the United States.
HIV cannot be transmitted through oral sex, saliva kills the HIV virus thus transmitting HIV through oral sex is virtually 0%.
In order for HIV to be transmitted, the infected person(s) must have a high viral load in order to infect.
HIV transmission has to happen inside the body, which is why condoms are 99% effective
HIV has to travel all the way inside the urethra, which is why it is much harder for men to obtain HIV
Symptoms are a horrible way to determine whether you have HIV or not
(HIV symptoms are very very very similar to anxiety, anybody can catch a cold or a fever, and yes thrush is common)
*Remember it's not about how many people you have sex with, it's all about the kind of sexual behavior you engage in, you can have sex with hundreds and hundreds of women, but as long as you're PROTECTED you will not get HIV, and infection of other STD's are very low.
-For those of you that have done any high risk sexual acts, please get tested so you do not infect others, if you have NOT done any high risk sexual acts there is no need for HIV testing, please do not send me any PM's or any of the other users on this board, or waste 15$ asking one of our hard working, sent from heaven doctors, ridiculous questions such as..."can i get HIV throug a handjob?" answer is no, "i got a fever b/w 3-6 weeks after having PROTECTED sex with an escort, do i have HIV?" the answer is no "i got a bbbj with an escort, can i get HIV?" answer is no.
sincerely...-unknown
p.s. feel free to correct me if you know any of the above information is wrong....which i highly doubt...I'M NEVER WRONG DAMMIT. i'm jk
the reason why no one has replied to this post is because its a numbers game, it doesnt mean anything, it just statistics. if you get infected with hiv are you going to say "buy the numbers say i cant get it" see what i mean. the post is thought provoking but doesnt mean **** when you are the unlucky one .
yes that's true, but the doctors on the board regularly do bring up numbers to support their points. i don't think they ever really say 'zero risk' but near zero that it's unmeasurable.
Thanks so much for doing this website- it really is such a wealth of knowledge. I'm a 29 year old straight female. My husband and I are thinking of having a baby. My friends told me that prior to becoming pregnant the doctor will run a panel of tests, including an hiv test. This has always been a major concern of mine and have now worked myself into such a panic over this. I have been with my husband for 5 years. I have only had protected sex (except once with my husband). I have received and performed oral on a few guys- six to eight years ago. I have regular check ups and cbc's (although I know that a cbc is not an indication). I am rarely sick and work with kids so I'm around a lot of germs. I know people do not have symptoms for a long time, but would I have some indication? Am I at risk? I'm paranoid something is going to come back in my testing. I know that this may be a trivial question and there are people who need other questions answered, but any advice would be helpful. I have really gotten myself worked up, to the point I do not want to go to the doctor.
