ARS Lymph node question

Hi All,

3rd dec had sex with SW in Malaysia (she was vietnamese).  Was drunk and when i withdrew condom had come off.  Note sure if it had come off inside or on withdrawl (withdrawal) but it was sticking out of her vagina when i noticed. Tested negative and went on Pep 52 hours later when got back to Europe. Finished pep on 25 days ago.  Had duo test 12 days after finishing pep which read negative.  

During week 3 of pep had various bumps (do called them fat nodules) on trunk of body and top of arms - skin colour but some a little red around shoulders.  These continued to last week and are disappearing although one or two are still appearing.

On Friday noticed large lymph nodes under both jaws and one armpit (i think the other was ok).

Went to docs yesterday - he noticed the ones under the jaws but seemed unconcerned about arms.  He checked groin and that seem ok. He also told me that the test i took on day 12 post pep was pretty realiable and come back for 3 month test.

Last night one side of jaw and face very sore and and a bit numb around areas of lymph nodes (unerv jaw/behind ear/ under chin) - tender perhaps? not sure .  Other side ok but large lymph node. Guess they have been felt quite alot over the last few days but didnt think i was feeling them that hard.   One armpit slightly raised, other ok.

Have had no fever at all (average av 36.4 C) no higher than 37.7 since mid December.

Does anyone think the Lymph nodes are the start of ARS.  Im taking a post pep 28 day test on Friday but suffering from wild anxiety.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I'm surprised you were given pep, it's a strong drug and there are side effects that come with taking it, so for now i would ignore all symptoms except any obvious. Any oddities you are experiencing could be med related as well Cen300, so keep this in mind. Taking pep will also mean you will have to test out to 6 months. Do not mix drink with sex with a prostitute again if you can is my other advice, and good luck to you Cen300...your probably hiv negative.

thanks so much  for your words - you're right about drink and prostitutes.  The doc though pep would be wise as I am uncircumcised.  On the question of obvious symptoms would not the lymph nodes be a major indicator or would they generally be accompanied by fever/ rash etc?

You were never at risk, didn't need PEP and you don't have to have symptoms to have contracted HIV. Next time hold on to your condom when you withdraw.

Thanks Teak,  yes  the lesson is well learnt and I really want to get this behind me but the mind goes crazy with worry.    If you dont mind I would like to ask a general question on the nodes (soreness now gone but enlarged on both sides of jaw and puffy under chin)  IF it was HIV related would it be accompanied by other symptoms such as fever and rash...and I do take your point that their need not be any symptoms.  Thks in advance

With regard to the Lymph nodes surely if they were that swollen they would at the very least cause jaw ache or some soreness. If they were a symptom would they be accompanied by fever or can they be on their own

I understand what you say abt risk but the fact is that I cantremember whether the condom came off on the way out or sometime earlier.  Only the end was protruding.

Hi guys, still stressed - lymph nodes in neck still enlarged but no pain, red marks behind ear.  Armpits enlarged one side, not sure about the other and dont know about groin - am I panicking about nothing?

test tomorrow - know shoudnt be anxious but the lymph nodes are still worrying me.  They are still swollen around jaw and under chin.  They DONT hurt.  Think one armpit is and one isnt as far as I can tell none in groin.  Cant tell back of neck but behing ears a little red.  Absolutely no fever or anything else.   IF the nodes were a symptom is it likely that enlarge alone or would fever kick in.  Seems to be a mixed bag of opnion with no clear answer.  Your thoughts really would be appreciated.  Cen

You were never at risk and your self diagnosed symptoms have nothing to do with HIV. Instead of wasting your time on your HIV fixation, see a doctor.

had a 4 week duo test 2 weeks ago and negative as you expected.  But yesterday (5 weeks 6 days after finishing pep,) Neck became red and lymph node large on neck and think one side of groin.

skin on neck and top of chest very red  with a few spots as well - freaking out again - is this ARS? or am i panicking over nothing.  The rash does not itch and dont appear to have a high fever.  Thoughtsplease

Please see a doctor no one here can tell you what is going on. These could side effects of the medications.
