ARS? Turns out to be Mono

Hey everyone,

I have been on these forums for the past few days FLIPPING OUT because I had a fever, medically confirmed swollen lymph nodes and feeling run down and so tired I cant drive.

I have been positive it was ARS.

I went to the doctor yesterday due to a sore throat and white bumps on my tonsils.

Today the doctor called me and I have MONO!

That explains all my symptoms.

So symptoms you think can be ARS can be attributed to other things.

However, I dont feel out of the woods yet. I am still worried as hell until I get to my 6 week test.

you want to know what I felt around 2 weeks after my high risk exposure?  I came down with food poisoning from eating out.  Now, that's madness and everyone knows how **** one can feel down with food poisoning.  I mean seriously, WHAT TIMING!  My Mind went completely insane and I had to survive over my 4 midterms and presentations in colleges.  Talk about added stress.

so buddy, trust me when I tell you that most people who come here with ARS feelings are nothing.  The timing of was so bizzare for me...

The same thing happened to me. I was sure I had ARS, but turned out I had mono as well.

I never thought I would be so happy to have mononucleosis! lol

When I heard the news it was mono I was actually happy...finally an explanation for my ARS symptoms ;)

The biggest tipoff for you that what you have is mono and not ARS is the white bumps on your tonsils along with your sore throat. In mono, the sore throat associated with it is "exudative" meaning that you can see white stuff back there. In ARS, however, you cannot see any white stuff. All you have is the sore throat. So the fact that you have white bumps along with your sore throat is very solid evidence that you have mono and not ARS.
