I have a single exposure exactly 7 weeks ago, and did not experience any ARS symptoms until a few days ago. In fact, my tests at 4 and 6 weeks came back negative. However, what worries me is, a few days ago I had fever (>101), night sweats, headache, fatigue, and vomiting, which lasted for three days, but no lymph node enlargement nor rash. I like to think that this is not ARS, because of the following two reasons:
First, ARS "typically" takes place from 2 to 4 weeks, or 2 to 6 weeks according to some. However, in my case, if this is indeed ARS it would have occurred 6.5 weeks after, which is statistically highly unlikely.
Second, my wife and kid also experience the above mentioned flu-like symptoms, beginning and ending at almost exactly the same time as mine. If mine were ARS-induced fever, it would not have been transmittable, right? In other words, regular flu viruses can rather easily move around from one person to another and spread the flu, but HIV virus could not easily jump around and, thus, ARS-induced fever is not transmittable, right? Of course, there is the possibility that my wife and kid caught some regular flu at the same time I experience ARS-induced flu.
Doctor, could you please comment on my above line of thoughts, in particular, the question "is ARS fever transmittable?". Thanks!
