ARS or Steven Johnson syndrome

I am a 50 year old female that has been with the same person for 20 years and had a risky sexual encounter with a business partner including unprotected vaginal and oral sex. He denied having a risk factors for HIV or drug use. I was also taking Bactrim at the time for a UTI. The very next day I awoke with a severe "yeast" infection and bought some monostat. That burned liked crazy and I started to swell and bleed with the skin peeling off my labia. Within 24 hours, my mouth and tongue also had a white and red coating and some blistering and my skin on my arms and legs took on a strange molten appearance. I went to my OBGyn on the 4 forth day and had a kit run for PH, yeast, STDs all came back NEGATIVE. My eyes also started to turn beat red and blister and went to eye doctor who was clueless. Sadly, I did no know the timing on HIV testing and had my PCP lab collect bloodwork for a lab HIV test at only 2 weeks which came back negative. Since then I had two "unapproved" home tests over the past 6 months that have been negative. However, I continue to suffer with aches and pains, dry eyes, colds, flu, loose stools, fatigue with no swollen lymph nodes or fever. Oh, I should say at about 1 month I went to my derm and showed her my tongue and mouth and some spots on my chest that were starting to bleed and she instantly thought Steven Johnson Syndrome. What do you guys think? Can ARS appear in 12 hours as a systemic yeast infection and then test out negative for yeast?

Steven Johnson Syndrome is vary rare,i had the same happen to me turned out to be staph,Home access is the onley fda home approved test.Get one today by tusday you will know.good luck

Thank - I did but have to wait until Tues or Wed for the Home Access results and worry about false positive because their test is the simple version and can be false positive with SJS and Sjogrens Syndrom (syndrome). I should say that I also went into acute renal failure and lost the entire lining of my vagina and intestines and had the typical SJS blisters on my mouth, inside my nose and eyes. I am just kicking myself for being so stupid. The guy still says he's fine but I think he is a high risk individual and lies about how many women he has been with despite being married. I have had major blood work over the past several months including a positive ANA. All else including CBC and renal and liver function tests are finally normal. So, I guess I wait like the rest of people here that do stupid things.

Home Access is an ELISA test and you won't get a false positive due to your undiagnosed guesses.

I thought there were several articles stating that you can get a false positive from Home Access if you have had a recent flu, flu vaccine or SJS. You seem to know quite a bit. Sorry to read about your diagnosis. Hopefully, you are doing OK at this point. It is nice to know there are people on this forum with so much experience.

Teak - thank you and I am negative. I am in tears however because I am so very sick and it is most likely the aftermath of SJS. From my reading, I have no treatment options and no cure for all the GI, mouth, eye and lung issues. Although obviously relieved to not have HIV, I am overwhelmed by health issues, exhausted, broke and with no easy answers. Thank you and your group and best wishes too all of you!
