About hairy Leukoplakia please help me

by boken, May 14, 2007 12:00AM

I think some of you read the thread here. http://www.medhelp.org/forums/HIVSupport/messages/2834.html

As i said, I have sex using condom 4 weeks ago and HIV test which is negative after 2 weeks. The reason is i am having symptoms like muscle pain, fever headache and sweating on my palms and soles..

the terrifying thing is that i have white patches on the letheral border of my tongue. I asked dermatologist and he said it is hairy Leukoplakia!!!!!!!!!

So, i want to know in what stage or after how much time this hairy Leukoplakia appears in Hiv infected individuals?

I have been stressing because every thing i read about hairy Leukoplakia said the person is HIV +. Please help me????

Thanks in advance.

If you used a latex condom and it did not fail then ur risk is 0. I believe that HL happens during late hiv stage. try to do a search on the internet which shows pictures of HL, trust me you dont have Hl, a dermatologist is not an hiv specialist, he only deals with skin problems i believe. Try to get tested beteween 6-8 weeks.

If you were not tested for HL or thrush. Then there is no way to diagnose your problem if one exists or not. You had protected sex and you didn't need to test to begin with. I take it when you looked up HL that you seen that "some" people with HIV do contract HL, but you failed to read about the negative people that contract it. You didn't have a risk and if you do have HL or thrush. Have it treated, it's unrelated to HIV.

From my experience as a symptom surfer, almost every symptom of every disease can lead back to hiv.  Don't do this to yourself.  Get tested to know, learn from your mistakes, and stay off of the internet.  Also, I don't know but it would seem that a dentist would be more qualified to make that kind of an assessment.  Do you have geographic tongue?  A lot of times people with geographic tongue can present with what looks like HL, but its just a normal event.
