On Friday August 22 in the afternoon I had a sexual encounter with another man. There was no anal intercourse involved. Open-mouth kissing occured, I do not have any open sores. Oral sex was performed on me. I did lick the other man's penis once and it may have had seminal fluid (pre-***) although I do not think so, and the penis never went into my mouth. Semen also may have been on my hand at time of ejaculation.
On Saturday August 23 (exactly 12 hours later) I had mild diarrhea and flu-like symptoms (moderate back/arm pain), mild fever and fatigue. Was extrememly better on Tuesday August 26, but then I believe I exacerbated fatigue by going to the gym that night. Felt fatigue again on Wednesday. Today (Thursday) I feel much better. There is some minor swelling of lymph nodes.
Is this a possibility of acute HIV, or just a case of the flu? I've read literature and it seems that onset of symptoms occurs earliest 1 week after time of infection... but is 12 hours possible?
I'm a pre-med student and have done HIV and cancer research which I think it heightening my anxiety. I will see my doctor soon, but want to see if my questions could be answered asap.
Thanks
