So I had unprotected anal sex with a girl that is HIV positive, that is all we did and it was like 3-5 mins tops before I was out of there. We used lube, but I am freaking out now. I went to the doc and got on the pep drug.

Sorry, I thought you were on PEP. If you are still within 72 hours of exposure, you would probably qualify for it (the sooner you started the better).

Also thought I'd mention, PEP has been shown in some studies to reduce the risk of transmission by as much as 80%. It is critical, however, that you follow the course of treatment and do not miss doses.

If you are to remain on the full 28 day course of PEP, you need a test at 3 months post exposure AND another test at 6 months (3 months after the first test) post exposure. PEP can cause false negatives. Remember, test at 3 months, then at 6 ONLY if you are to stay on the full PEP course.

i know what your going through and your most likely not infected like hsci said the odds are very greatly in your favor it was a one time exposure just hang in there im sure you will have a good outcome and a very valuable life lesson learned when you cash in your negative results

in the same boat like me, unprotected insertive anal for short amount of minutes with no ejaculation with a person later discovered to be HIV + ....I didn't take PEP as I discovered the fact 3 weeks post exposure, so far 2 negative tests at 3 and 8.5 weeks.

but prepare for the rollercoaster...which will be a month longer thanks to PEP.

you know, when I took my 2nd test, what I prayed was not to test negative ( that isn't in god's hands anymore ), I prayed that, if I was going to come out positive, that it showed in the test, ( the 8th week one )  so that I could end the window period mysery and begin adjunsting to the new life... came back negative... I am not sure what to think. I think I should have hope.

You dont know if this girl was HIV positive , The odds are very slim she wasnt . But unprotcted anal sex is a big risk and I would get tested . If you are on pep more than likely you will be taking a HIV test anyways ..
