Another Needle Prick Incident!!!

Hey guys earlier today I was in the gym again, working out on a weight machine. This guy walked past me and I felt something on my finger. I then checked it there was a small cut.  There was no sharp pain or blood. I don't think he was holding onto a needle. I admit I have hiv anxiety but can you please answer this question. Suppose this happened would I have any risk whatsoever for hiv or other diseases?

Many Thanks,
Robin

You have not been poked with a needle, anywhere but at the doctor's office.  Your thinking is highly irrational.  This forum has strict rules which you can read above, and that's because this is probably THE busiest forum on MH and no one would ever get their questions answered if we continued to answer every anxiety-driven question people came up with, or if we had to keep repeating the same answers for the same people over and over.  There is not anything else we can tell you other than you need to seek some professional help.

A person without fears and phobias would never have that thought process every time they felt a jab, or saw a little bit of blood.  You're talking about a gym, which is FULL of all kinds of equipment and parts you could cut yourself on...happens all of the time.  There are NOT people walking around with needles poking you.

It's really time to move on now.

You're probably right - this hypochondriac part of me is horrible. Would you even advise testing in this case?

Yes it is necessary, just look at your posting history. There is nothing this forum or any other forum can do for you. You need one on one professional help that no forum can provide.

I think I should. But should I be worried over such an incident?

Does this sort of thing only happen when you are in the gym?

Your irrational fears are leading to the dreaded "what if" questions, which in turn fuel more irrational fears and anxiety.

It may have come to the point where you should make an appointment to see your doctor and find the best way forward to deal with your irrational fears and anxiety.
