Anxious and worry about HIV!

Hi Dr Sean

I am from Singapore, I have a sexual encounter with a china sex worker. Unprotected oral and protected sex which i not sure if there is a broke in the condom.

I have done a STD test 3 days after exposure whereby the results show I have herpes HSV-1. I have also do the 4th gene HIV test at 28 days and 49 days, both are negative.

Is my results conclusive? As i am very worried and anxious. Do I need to retest again at 12 weeks or is there any chance the results will turn positive?

Need your help Dr Sean. Thanks in advance

Thanks for your quick reply.

Does having a unprotected blowjob carry risk of HIV?

Since the 4th gene HIV test is conclusive at 4 weeks, why most countries still emphasizing on retest at 12 weeks? I believe because of this, it causes a lot of people to be more anxious and worried, including myself.

Had the condom failed, you would have known it because condom failures are too obvious to ignore. You were never exposed to HIV, therefore your test will always come negative. Please move on with your life
