Are these typical aids symptoms

by AZ69, Jun 30, 2009 01:20PM
Dear Dr.
My wife has frequent bruise like marks on her legs, her gynecologist suggested blood clotting from time to time
Her mother has similar marks also
She coughs at night sometimes, family doctor suggested allergies
Otherwise she is in good health
Is early symptoms of aids manifested this way
Thank you
AZ

You say nothing about your, or your wife's risk for HIV.  In the general population, the symptoms you describe are likely to be due to something other than HIV.  UNless there is some other reason to worry this is not HIV.  Even if there is a reason for concern, the symptoms you decribe are far more likely to be due to something other than HIV than due to HIV.  EWH

Dr. I had an oral sex exposure with a female couple of years ago, no other exposure

The exposure you mention is vitually no risk for HIV.  You need to stop worrying.  If you need to prove this to yourself to help you deal with your guilt over the exposure, get tested once.  Then believe the results.  I am confident that the test result will be negative and that there is no reason to be concerned that your wife might have HIV.  EWH
