Bad Symptons

Please help I have had protected sex with prostitutes and unprotected oral sex.  Receiving only(oral sex).  Also I once had unprotected anal sex with a woman who is STD and HIV free.  My tongue is white towards the back with a few raised bumps in the back.  Which my doctor insists not to worry and that some people even grow hair on the back of the tongue.  I also get an outbreak of bumps on my back and chest once a year.  I was given a steiroid type cream for treatment.  My throat sometimes feels uncomfortable, sometimes tight like something just needs to be swallowed.
I tested HIV negative 4 times in a 2 year time length after the prostitute episodes.  But now my wifes tongue seems to have a white substance on her tongue.  What can it be?
We want to have babies, is it safe?
I had my HIV testing done at the county health department.
What other STD's does this clear me from?

Your HIV test results tell the story:  you don't have it.  In other words, those result prove that whatever is causing your white tongue and other symptoms, and your wife's, it cannot be HIV.  Many viruses and other things cause, all more common than HIV, cause white tongue from time.

Everybody has a row of prominent specialized taste buds in a shallow V-shaped row across the back of the tongue.  Usually there are 7 of them.  My guess is that explains the "bumps" you describe.

I cannot tell you what other STDs the health department tested you for.  You'll have to ask them.

From an HIV standpoint, clearly it is safe for your wife to conceive and bear children.  Probably safe with respect to other STDs as well.  But don't worry about that part; if/when your wife is pregnant, her health care provider will routinely test her for common STDs anyway.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

I think the doctor will tell you that your risk was very low.  Your 4 negative test out to (2) years is definitive and conclusive that you don't have HIV.  Graphic tongue (white film on the tongue) is probably what you and your wife have, it is very common and nothing to worry about.  That's why your doctor said it was normal.
