Basic Care Tips for Families with HIV+ parent

Hello Everyone

I have been having a hard time trying to find information for families with an HIV+ parent. I have tried to read up on as much as I can regarding HIV but have found that there is not much information out there specifically for such said topic.
I am aware that HIV is transmitted through sexual fluids and injection equipment and that in the environment (outside the body) HIV virus can't sustain very long.  

However, there must be some care information otherwise for both the family and the HIV+ parent preventing HIV transmission. Basic tips and such i suppose. Any help is appreciated.

ah sorry I didn't mean just in terms of transmission , but care as well .....i don't know how to explain it but for example

should pets be kept within the family when parent is HIV+? I know its said that at the last stage , pets provide a comfort however the infected person should not come in contact with feces and such. But what about when the parent is not on meds yet but HIV+?

or perhaps, things to keep in the first aid kit ?

tidbits like that. I may be still misinformed but would appreciate a medium or reading material that would help.

There are no changes that have to be made for most people with HIV. Just go along living life like you didn't have HIV.
